The number for firearm suicides 1996-2016 is 360,579, out of 652,051 total suicides How can you be so wrong?
Alcohol is "not a necessity of life" either....... Just remember those "toys" are not only for "shooting ranches or hunting" they are also necessary to the security of a free State. https://www.archives.gov/founding-docs/bill-of-rights I have no problem if "The People" want to take my guns. I just request it be done the right way - with a Constitutional Amendment!!!
And over three times as many law abiding citizens use firearms to defend themselves against criminals, as such firearms are a very valuable tool for the law abiding and for that reason alone we have right to own them.
We already do, criminals are coddled by the legal U.S. system, you clearly have no idea of how that system works.
Then they are, in fact, being kept from gaining access to firearms. Therefore they are being saved from ending their own existence, and thus able to continue living their lives, kept safe from themselves.
Let us cut straight through to the actual heart of the matter, and dispense with the formalities. The vast majority of posts found within this discussion, when boiled down to their basic elements, would amount to nothing more than the continual, incessant whining and crying about how the real world is unfair, because societies either do not believe, or simply are not doing enough, to protect grown adult individuals from experiencing the negative consequences of their own poor decisions, as parents would a child. Such is ultimately the sum total of this entire thread. It reads as being nothing more than the continual begging to be treated as a child because being a functioning, responsible adult in an uncaring world that will not protect individuals from themselves is simply too difficult and too frightening to face.
In my opinion, people with severe mental disorders should be under psychiatric care rather then prison.
WOW! I sort of agree. In USA, not only children, but teenagers up to age 16 must be supervised and provided for. It is illegal to give them firearms. Many adults with Mental Disability have capacity of teenagers or children. Sadly the State abandons them.
All that is needed is an infinitesimal amount of fentanyl or a bit more of other street dungs. It's easier than eating a slug. It's much easier than the discipline of mind over pain, blood, and guts needed to commit hari kari.
Rampant gun violence doesn't make me feel very secure. Guns are defeating the purpose for which they were originally intended.
And that comment is totally false, there is no rampant gun violence in the U.S. outside of criminal activity.
Thank you. As a person with Mental Disability -- Autism and Depression, I am also concerned about victim-perpetrators of self-inflicted violence. I have Moderate Depression, not Severe one. I never thought about harming myself or anyone. But I do harm myself slowly -- by overeating deep fried food and being addicted to reading Twitter.
