I read the entire thread. What no one mentioned (unless I missed it) is what happens to the skilled workers who make $15/hr before the minimum wage increase? All of a sudden they are now minimum wage workers? If that were me I would be a little miffed! Also, a lot of union (payscale) contracts are based on a percentage increase above minimum wage. Raise MW and now the unions raise their rates accordingly. All this to satisfy burger flippers?

On a somewhat connected subject that I will raise in other threads, I got my 401K statement today, year to date 12/31/18 to 11/30/2019 I am up 32%. Anyone that votes for a democrat, any democrat in November is too stupid for words. Uh oh, another warning coming my way, let me rephrase that, any less intelligent individual that is uniformed enough to not vote for Trump is committing economic suicide. How's that?

He just wants you to pay for his cheap hamburger through welfare rather than paying for it himself.

You can join Costco and buy beautiful, big chickens, freshly-roasted throughout the day, all ready to eat, for five bucks. You can take it home and eat it in the peace, quiet, and sanitary surroundings of your own home! I'm waiting to hear how you can beat that!

So maybe we should just raise it to keep up with inflation?
Would that be okay with you?

    I have nothing against Costco.

What I don’t like is hearing liberals cheer when restaurants go out of business, leaving many people unemployed.

when there are no restaurants in Seattle I'll eat crow. because there is one that closed I wont, for all I know two others opened while this one was closing, but in general higher costs thin the herd.

even with lower labor costs , eateries still fail every day.

These kind of laws eliminate competition for the billion dollar multi-national corporations, who can afford to pay out like that. So, in the libera's attempt at making things better for the poor, they actually end up helping the super wealthy corporate masters instead.

Sorry but your baseless assertions do not refute these highly experienced and highly successful businessmen. They would not be closing those stores and moving locations if what they say is not true, they can no longer afford to be open there.

Overall unemployment may be going down, but not for restaurants.

Seattle is a fluke and you know it, it has a huge amount of government military contract jobs.

Costco has excellent chickens too. huge! plus they sell the packages of leftover chicken already picked . cant go wrong.

I literally fed 25 people at my Christmas party for less than $100 and had two days of leftovers. people can spend that on two steak dinners and a couple drinks.

Yes. Seattle is a large successful city with very low unemployment and a growing food service industry in spite of a higher minimum wage.
