Schumer proposes that Bolton and Mulvaney testify in Senate impeachment trial

    The offer also indicates a willingness to request documents and agree to other witnesses with "direct knowledge" of aid to Ukraine if House prosecutors or the president's lawyers were to request it.

    I said all along that the Senate Trial would not yield the testimonies from Schiff, or the Bidens, or whomever else was the latest right wing bogeyman. And I think this offer from the Democrats indicates their confidence that it is more likely at least three GOP senators would join in a request for evidence from individuals with actual first hand knowledge, like Bolton and Mulvaney, when compared against the likelihood that the GOP would not lose more than 2 votes if the GOP decided to try and subpoena trump's wish list of witnesses.

    As well as Michael Duffy and Robert Blunt, I believe he is issueing senate subpoenas for all four of them.

    He would like to, but those subpoenas require support from 51 total senators. I think there are probably 3 GOP senators willing to subpoena to obtain more information.

    Impeachment is a sinking ship and the only people who don't know it are Democrats who have been trying to impeach trump for the last 2 1/2 years.

    Wrong as usual. The Republicans didn't get to call Joe Biden, or son, or the whistleblower but they did call two witnesses they thought would benefit their case. It blew up when their witnesses went under oath and tore the Republican story to pieces. Nunes exclaimed 'These aren't our witnesses, they belong to the Democrats.' It was really quite humorous.:xd:

    A fox news poll got released yesterday where 50% want trump impeached and removed. Another 4% want him impeached, but not removed.

    Sinking ship? No.

    Even if 20 Republican senators are unwilling to put country over party (and I will remind everyone that Republicans also took a very long time to abandon Nixon), impeachment is still a worthwhile endeavor because Trump's behavior must be condemned.

    The Republicans on the House Intelligence committee got 3 witnesses that they wanted to testify publicly.

    The only ones they were denied were individuals with absolutely no factual knowledge of trump's behavior and the whistleblower because he wanted to remain anonymous.

    Also and most importantly, the Senate is not the House.

    The information so far is not "bullshit" and it almost entirely supports the allegations.

    But the Republicans know that which is why they have tried at least 27 different defenses.

    Right after the Biden’s take the stand. I’d love to hear from the horses mouths how Hunter obtained these jobs without daddy using the govt and pulling strings or forcing some hands. Sounds quite illegal!!

    That is, of course, totally irrelevant to the case. That might be appealing to you but it is well outside impeachment. Republicans attempting to call the Biden's in the House failed because their testimony would satisfy a few Republican's interests but wold be a waste of time.

    Just FYI (for all)

    Robert Blair = senior adviser to Mulvaney
    Michael Duffey = associate director for national security at the Office of Management and Budget

    All 4 of these were witnesses originally subpoenaed by the House and denied by the Exec Branch.

    I doubt that will change here.... the LAST thing a Trump defense wants are fact witnesses, since the facts are clearly not on their side...
