I submit that this rally & the abrogation of the State's Constitutional Carry rights for those in VA,an 'open carry state', is layered w/ even more implications / possible ramifications on the horizon. I really don't want to get into the weeds on just this one event, necessarily, as the conversation we should be having is so 'ranging'. Most pressing to me - Does this attention & obvious creation of a 'Gun Free Zone' (GFZ) create a huge target? I don't even want to hypothesize on what might occur / ensue as a result of bad actors that are intent on orchestrating a 'false flag event'; - perhaps we should though... Furthermore, if a single man (governor) can determine (Yea or Nea) arbitrarially the citizenries God given right of armed preservation & / or preclude legal access to public areas within the state... how does that portend for us in the slippery slope of eventuality... Will there be facets of a deleterious precedent going forward; built upon, by the Governor's orders - The Court's decision - for this Monday event? OK a word from 'Conservative Momma' re. Like other states that have draconian laws, they will be ignored by the general population that is, until election time.
It is very disturbing that the VA Governor feels he can at his whim suspend rights. Not surprising. He desires to implement a Stalinist state and will do so if he can.
The good folks of VA elected all these democrat legislators so they get what they deserve, unfortunately
I have to disagree that they deserve it having been born in VA and lived most of my life in VA. What created the present situation in VA was immigration. There are over 1 million people living in VA (a State of about 8 million people) who were not born in the US. Many are Asians fleeing communism and moving to Northern VA. Then ironically voting for left wing liberal Dems. The natives (so t speak) born in VA certainly didn't ask for this to happen. I saw the light 15 years ago and left the State. Glad I did.
The heritage of our US flintlock (spiral bore) long rifle hale not far from VA & in the "south", (some argue PA & most think KY). It was this integral (German gunsmithing) innovation that helped us win the Revolutionary war. Frontiersmen using ambush & accuracy of their long rifles to 'plink' off the British in their red coats & in their ridiculously 'regimented' formations... regardless, Gov. Northam may have forgotten, in the midst of his socialite 'black face' shenanigans that - some things run DEEP for the forgotten underbelly of the 'South'! (I do wonder how this will play out...)

Why not? Republicans everywhere seem fine to at a whim just ban the religious and constitutional law that get to ban who gets to marry or even have sex with! Or decide with no basis require a woman must have a pointless medical procedures, and the woman must pay it too! So the Republicans have seen, so they will reap! The arbitrary and anti-freedom laws the Republicans have created to destroy America go ever larger.

While I share your sentiments we are talking about tens of thousands of angry men with itchy trigger fingers feeding off each other's rage concentrated into a small area. What could possibly go wrong?
This sort of gun free zone isn't so dangerous, in theory, as crawling with cops armed with automatic and sniper weapons as its sure to be. This is how the 'gun free zone' was originally conceptualized to be a safety feature. It was later bastardized by progs into the rediculous permanant gun free zone that has neither citizens able to defend themselves nor adequate armed LE keeping guard. But that isn't this rally. Metal detectors, spotters and responders are in full force. If theres any shooting in this one, it'll be because the authorities wanted there to be.
I suspect you are right, although it is probably more like 80% IMHO. I thought about commenting on the Fed jobs but I think immigration has a greater impact and didn't want to conflate the issues.

So it appears that The VA Governor was 100% right to put all of those precautions in place BEFOREHAND because the end result was a PEACEFUL protest. That kind of FORETHOUGHT is exemplary in any elected official. Maintaining Law and Order in spire of the threats of violence against him personally is an achievement to be proud of. And yes, the protesters deserve credit for keeping their emotions in check on what for them is an emotional issue. The outcome was POSITIVE for all and I am glad that nothing did go wrong.
