Unfortunately you don't understand the problem and are just parroting the lies of the GCA movement. The so called gun culture is not the problem for if such exists it is comprised of law abiding gun owners who haven't committed any crimes at all, in fact they actually had played a part in lowering crime. The problem in the U.S. and many other countries is caused by a culture of violence where the value of life is non-existent, it is a culture promoted my both Hollywood and modern media, unfortunately it is a very profitable both legally and illegally. And instead of addressing the true cause of the problem the GCA's and their mind numbed minions attack the very tool that protects the law abiding from the culture they support and promote. And all that would result in is increasing the death rate as it disarms the law abiding while doing nothing to solve the root cause of the problem. As such I would strongly you actually study the problem and get a real idea of what is going on versus suggesting we copy something your country has done without understanding how inapplicable it is to this country.
Guns will always be easy for criminals to obtain regardless of any law. "A syndicate working out of a suburban Sydney post office smuggled more than 130 high-powered, highly restricted semi-automatic handguns into Australia through the mail, at a time when the city was in the grip of an outbreak of drive-by shootings. At the time of their arrest in 2012, the syndicate had plans to bring in hundreds more Glock pistols into Australia. Only a fraction of the handguns they smuggled in have ever been found. More than 100 are still on the streets, in the hands of criminals." Do you really need a .45 caliber for gods sake. You could easily kill me with a 9 mm. I shot a 9 mm and it felt super powerful
You don't seem to understand much about ballistics, how it feels to you isn't what matters, how it feels to the person being shot is what matters and many of us including myself believe a .45 is a much better self defense round, and a much more humane round as it kills quickly, versus causing a person shot a lot of suffering while that person eventually dies.
As another said, who are you to say what anyone else needs. Good guy with an AR-15 stops a bad guy with an AR-15 and bullet-proof vest. Residents repel 7 home invaders with an AR-15. (A lot of good a six-shooter does against 7 home invaders who come in firing.) Of course I could post many more instances of multiple invaders or other cases where an AR was the right tool for the job. In this video, the police and bad guys fire far more than 30 rounds and no one was hit. Even trained police miss when firing under stress. So how do you expect a revolver to handle firing under stress and multiple attackers? I own AR-15s but I don't use them as my goto home defense weapon; just my choice. Others choose differently and do select an AR as their goto; that's their choice. The point is, every person considers their own risks and plans or prepares according to their own risk/benefit analysis. There is no handgun or long gun type, style, or caliber, that I could not come up with a reasonable scenario for which that gun is well suited or possibly best suited.
Explain, in precise details, exactly why no individual is in legitimate need of a forty-five caliber.
I can tell you why there's no justifiable reason to ban any caliber: Home invaders with body armor And, since armor piercing ammunition has been banned for civilian use, here's the perfect .50 BMG pistol for those cases:
The only weapons that have a chance to stop a bear, other than high powered rifles, are large caliber pistols. Very few gun owners, I'm certain, rank 'killing you' as an important reason they carry. Killing a violent psycho on pcp probably ranks a lot higher for most all of them, and I've been told those don't stop until they die. A .45, generally speaking, kills faster than a 9mm.
YES but a huge magnitude. I cant even hold a .45 and fire it without my hands With the insane violence of the left : we may need all the guns if it comes to that
'The insane left' arent much of a threat. Not one to shoot at anyway. They'll flee if you just ask them questions they can't answer. But that could be because they're afraid of attacking someone who turns out to have a gun. Which is really the most important function of arms- deterrence. Also, what kind of '.45' can you not fire? Was it this kind?
Then I read that 9 mm is not the best gun as it can shoot through anything and may hit innocent folks as it lacks stopping power
Hollowpoints, frangible rounds and (for revolvers) light loads are all options to prevent firing 'through' and instead maximize energy transfer to the target. There is no 'best gun.' All have strengths and weaknesses for different shooters in different situations. Another reason why bans by 'type' arent wise: they decrease the overall utility of firearms for self defense.
If a .45 interested you, you could build up your control by practicing with weapons with lighter recoil.
I felt the most confident shooting a .38 gun that had a heavy metal frame as the kick was low !! Only neg is I get 6 shots only I may contact the guy for a private lesson at $70 am hr
