When growing up, foreign cars were almost non-existent. Most of the car market was dominated by Ford, Chevy and Plymouth. There were others out there, but those were the dominant brands. Now there is a dozen or more common brands of cars and the small number of car dealers a small town can support can no longer compete. It is easy to drive a few miles and have a good selection.

China’s economy is based on Norway’s economic system. The difference is Norway has a democratic government whereas China has an autocratic government.

This is not true at all. The Scandinavian economies are actually fairly free and in many regards less regulated than the American one.

Chinese firms are almost entirely controlled by the State even if they have made some reforms.

Norway owns major industries and uses the profits to fund the government. They don’t have to regulate them because they own them. China uses the same state/private industry partnership in its major industries.

Sweden use a different system where the state acts like a general contractor, with private companies doing the work via competitive biding.

Because, if left to their own devices, just like before the ACA, insurance companies will give people physicals and only insure healthy people. They’ll also drop them when they get too expensive. Then, sick people will all die at a rate higher then 30k per year.
If you’re waiting for the free market for an answer, don’t bother. They wouldn’t insure old people. That’s why we have Medicare...
