The rugby team isolated in a crashed aircraft in the Andes resorted to the same little survival trick.

That made me laugh. There is nothing worse than having three left handed gloves and no hope of ever finding the mate.

    Brrrr, hate being cold. :rage:

to lose them.Put them back the same place after using.Like a Parent tells
a child.Whether a winter hat, scarf, gloves, mittens or winter Tuba for playing
at Christmas parties and the like.I mean, like this ain't rocket science.

It was so cold here three times wrapped up might work. When it gets cold here it gets brutal. You would think we could at least get snow!!!

    How cold was it?

    Yankee:
It was so cold when I breathed in deep it felt like I was snorting brake fluid.

    Florida Resident:
It was so cold frozen lizards were falling out of the trees.

And the Yank would know this because....?

This is the first winter the spouse has actually complained about the cold. Not just one or two complaints, but daily. Ever since November chill. Even more than me, come to think of it.

I think I'm being prepped for an RV and road trips south.....

I know this because I hung around brake shops. This was years ago before "organic" brake pads.

Its cold here and we have had snow on the ground for a while now. Its regular jacket cold. Not ski jacket cold.
$3.00 a gallon for heating oil in a 200 gallon tank makes you hearty.

    No Hats this Christmas.I have too many hats. A man { fellar }
need only a few hats.A Hat for stuff like Church.A ball cap for
games or Saturday around the house.
An Elmer Fudd Hunting cap for Hunting trips.
And a Winter hat { stocking cap } for Blizzards.
    I did end up finally finding my John Phillips { Mamas and the Papas }
Hippie hat. But I feel guilty wearing. It makes me look kinda silly.
Like a Chick could also wear. Some hats are like that.
    Not very same sex.

You have to leave those lizards alone when they thaw out they get nasty mean. In other words let sleeping lizards sleep or lay.

As a Motorcyclist there used to a time when January and Feburary especially
were definite No-No's for Biking.Way too Cold. Not even reaching the 40's
This past December and even January there were a few days in the low
60's.So I took out the bikes.I think the weather trends are shifting. Not
Global warming but longer or shorter periods of weather.Like Summer coming
later and winter arriving earlier.Or the converse.

Found a rather neat quote regarding the month of January being
a starter month to make good on one's New years resolution as to
    give Booze a break.

" Too much of anything is bad,but too much good
    whisky is barely enough. " -- ? { who said }.

How long does a 200 gallon tank last?
The winter here has been a bit mild, so mild I have seen one or two daffodils and hyacinths blooming. The mild weather is a teaser for gardening.

Ok ... Just Finished this War Movie. It was as good as it gets given
    the times.Given Millennial-based War Movies are predictable,often
hyped needlessly and hysterical- driven..Those that aren't end up overtly
driven my Hollywoods infatuation with Huge explosions and
loud noise { For Theatre effect }. BTW Tom Berenger has a muted, negligible role.
Mostly *sits in a cold wooden farmhouse smoking cigs with a constant
worried look on his face.He has No action scenes. The lead actor
has a very nice character and role. The settings are very authentic and
brilliantly shot { maybe too Brilliantly }.Battle Movies need a 60's type
Filming.I really like movies with nice settings. It's Wintertime in this
War Movie and the scenes accomodate that effect.Winter and forest
settings are remarkable.Maybe too clear and brilliant.War usually
tends to be overcast and hard to spot oncoming enemy lines. Not in
this Movie. However this Movie has relevant battle scenes { almost
all ground ... No Artillery backup }.Plus the ending is cut way short
to make way for big ending credits. All and all a solid 8/10 Movie.

    * used as temporary headquarters by ground officers awaiting
further orders based on latest intelligence.
