Trump's defense team knew about Bolton's statement of direct evidence that Trump said Aid for Investigation. They stated to the Senate that no evidence exists that directly shows Trump asked for an investigation for aid. They lied to the Senate, they lied to the court. They can be disbarred for this.

This is the beginning of the end.

Interesting...thanks. I am half way through a book on the Johnson impeachment and trial, but hadn't quite reached the trial part, where I am sure that will be covered. From the article, it seems it would be Roberts call. And, it would not surprise me if he used his vote for more witnesses and documentation. The Bolton story will add more pressure for both, plus it doesn't sound as if the defense team has a particularly great strategy if Dershowitz is going to try and deny abuse of power as an impeachable offense (which goes against the vast majority on constitutional experts opinions).

Dershowitz was once a good civil rights lawyer, but that focused on due process and the Bill of Rights...on impeachment...not so much. Another example of not knowing when to step down. Hard for lawyers to stop lawyering. It could get bizarre in the coming week.

At a minimum, it strengths the case for additional witnesses and documentation and an extended trial.

Long bow there to assert they KNEW what Bolton had in his back pocket. And....they have no problem if Trump instructs them that Bolton is lying.

Anything is impeachable. Trump is already impeached. Im talking about convincing the Senate to remove him from office.

Biden isn't on trial. We can have a trial for Biden later. All Trumps lawyers have to do is demonstrate that it was reasonable to suspect corruption and pause the aid, and the Senate will likely acquit. Proof isn't necessary for suspicion. In fact, one could argue that a lack of proof is necessary for suspicion... The video where Biden admits he got the prosecutor fired by withholding funds should be ample reason to be suspicious of corruption.

No.....not anything. But, to get to your point. Do YOU think that if he did what he is accused of, he ought to be removed from Office?

If it can be proven, via recorded dialogue or signed document or some other means that can be forensically proven to be Trump's, that Trump stated that he knew Biden was not involved in Ukraine corruption, but withheld aid to force Ukraine to investigate anyway so Trump could win re-election, then he ought to be removed from office.

Without such evidence, IMO Trump was just doing his job, and establishment shills will say anything to try and 'Kavanaugh' him.

The economy is best we had for a long time, illegal immigration is way down; the unemployment is record low. The world community once again respects United States. And on, and on.

Were you axing if President Trump should be removed from office? :roflol:

Of course, he did not know!!!!! That is exactly why he wanted Ukraine to get involved by merely announcing they will investigate Biden. That is all Donald wanted...an announcement, not an investigation. All he wanted was ammunition to toss at Biden should Biden be his opponent in November. "Biden is being investigated for corruption by Ukraine,' and on and on.

For me, I am perplexed. I don't see any US Politician worthy of being POTUS, both sides. Your whole system begs core corruption.

I agree. Yet with all the investigation into Trump, you'd think objective proof would have been found, if it existed. Especially given how 'dumb' he is...

I think we can all agree that western politics is rotten to the core in general, Australia included. Your PM is Scott Morrison FFS.

Wouldn't it be interesting though, if good old "It's Lt. Colonel" Vindman's brother worked in the government office that reviews such books?

In any event, John Bolton sold out the American people in favor of the swamp. He's a snake.

It's probably true, based on what's come out of the White House.

Not everything coming out of the White House:

"I NEVER told John Bolton that the aid to Ukraine was tied to investigations into Democrats, including the Bidens. In fact, he never complained about this at the time of his very public termination. If John Bolton said this, it was only to sell a book. With that being said, the..."

Trump doesn't even have to 'instruct them', he could flat out not tell them. And if that's the case, there's more then a few pissed off lawyers on Trump's team. Lawyers, by law do not make false representations(unless Crossfire Hurricane.). Because of their own client's deception, they inadvertently made false claims.

This could result in more than a few of the lawyers leaving the case, or outright stating that their client lied to them. The Bolton bombshell is big, make no mistake.
