Well, at least you are being honest. I am too. There are probably more liberals in my profession than conservatives. As for party affiliation, I don't recall ever asking anyone or anyone ever asking me. I am a Republican and do vote. I don't attend rallies or go overboard. This site tends to make us pick a side. I don't like the division here but that's the way it is.

Did you read the article? I think there is some truth to it. Did I have an easy life? Relative to what? Here's how I really feel. I'm no better than you, but no one is better than me.

I inadvertently clicked on that video somewhere else the other day. I wish I hadn't. Things like that tend to entrench themselves in my mind for ages. :(

'Culture' be danged. You just don't eat live animals!

I believe its called 3 squeak mice.

Once when picking them up with chopsticks.

    Once when dipping in sauce.

And finally when chewing them to death.

Are the Chinese commies playing tough with Hong Kong this morning? I don't think so. Imagine if they had been able to give them bath salts.

Americans in general, white, black, Indian, are ugly people across the board. We are not attractive people like south sea islanders.

Yesterday, I ran across some info that people don't have typical cold/flu symptoms with coronavirus, like severe coughing/sneezing. Mostly fever and pneumonia with only a mild cough. Doctors and nurses were initially wearing just face masks, but found they were still contracting it from patients through their eyes. Now those who don't have patient contact are wearing masks and goggles in the hospitals and full biohazard suits for healthcare workers who do have contact with the sick.

Holy crap! That seems like the kind of food market that the producers must have shopped in when they got all the stuff they fixed for the banquet scene in "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom"!

The flu kills 100k a year with a 0.04% fatality rate... The Wuhan Virus has a 3-5% fatality rate according to the WHO. That's hundreds of millions dead if it infects as many as Influenza. Any fatality rate over 1% is high for a highly contagious disease.

We can anticipate that a lot of companies that make various kinds of disinfectants will be looking to cash-in on this Coronavirus phenom. Some may be very effective, but I wonder which ones will be better for this type of virus, specifically... does anybody know?

Here's one I found, but I'm having a hell of a time finding a concise LIST of its ACTIVE ingredients, and what they do...

It's called "Byotrol", and here's a couple of links:

Anybody know if this stuff is better than Lysol or just plain bleach...?

Reminiscent to the Spanish flu, yet stronger.

When in doubt use bleach. I have bought fancy disinfectants and later wonder if they really worked. How do you know....? I prefer bleach, you know it works.

Stronger? No. The Spanish flu had a fatality rate of 10%. Baring mutation, this won't be that bad. Close though.

The scariest part about the Wuhan Virus is you can be infected up to 2 weeks before actually getting sick but still spread it. This is why China couldn't lock it down, the infection was already nationwide by the time things started getting bad in Wuhan.

Yesterday, I saw lots of different "guesses" as to the source. I say "guess" because different media was saying different things. One that sort of stuck in my mind was that it went from bats to wild animals then to humans. But who knows really?

I like bleach -- a lot. But, there are lot of surfaces that you can't really spray or wipe bleach on. It will ruin clothes if you spray bleach on full-strength, it can burn your skin, and if you damage things you spray it on in public (like stuff you touch at your exercise club or a gym) then you may have to pay for the damage, or be told to leave!

I like Lysol a lot, and it won't ruin clothes (I think), and it's harmless to all other surfaces (I think)....

Are you at any particular personal risk? I side with some evidence that the overuse of antibacterial products is what has allowed these bacteria and viruses to mutate and become resistant in the first place.

Grylls ate lots of raw snakes, bones and all, and it never hurt him so far.

I go to 24-Hour Fitness about five days a week and work out on the machines. I rarely shower there, and I don't use the hot pool much anymore. I'm retired, so I don't have to be around a lot of other people, and I generally stay at home with my wife where we have very, very little contact with other people (and like it like that, too). But, there's still a lot of contact with crowds at places like the supermarkets, and Costco. At least I learned never to make the cardinal mistake of going to Costco on a weekend day!

You're probably at very little risk. If you're worried, look for a product listed to be effective against staff infection and MRSA. Those are probably some of the strongest disinfectants on the market. May be less expensive to buy a product intended for veterinary clinics.
