It was at the last State of the Union, as a protest of sorts. In the days of fighting for the right to vote, women wore white, as a sign of solidarity. It was a show of force, for women’s issues. Even though men like Shiff and Nadler were the face of the impeachment of Donald Trump, the current women’s movement is the political power behind it. It is quite possible we could see a similar passive protest at the upcoming State of the Union.

Maybe you can explain why liberals continue to drive cars and rich liberals have private airplanes and yachts. Do you drive a car? Do you live in a 400 square ft. house? Do you use plastics and synthetic fabrics? Do you eat food produced by farms that use oil based products?

Oil field work is hard work -- so I would guess that would explain the lack of liberals so employed.

Opinions vary. What you call a "sign of solidarity" I call groupthink and political theater.

An example of school brainwashing is the fact that elementary school children are told that Columbus tortured and killed Arawak Indians, but are not told that Carib Indians tortured and killed Arawak Indians.

Please quote where I’ve said there’s anything wrong with same sex marriage. Hell, I’m fine with you marrying your horse if you so choose. My problem is with the state being the arbiter of who can marry and who can’t. I have a problem with the state being involved in marriage at all.

If I had my way, instead of gay couples submitting to the authority of the state, I would have liked to see them work with straight couples to get government out of all our bedrooms. But that’s just me. Seems I’m more liberal than you...

Conservative thought is the polar opposite to the way physicists think. In fact, I’ll go so far as to say that liberalism and physics are an outgrowth of the same philosophical base. In many ways they are one and the same. Benjamin Franklin and Albert Einstein were both physicists and liberals. Liberalism is an outgrowth of the scientific worldview, conservatism is based on the religious worldview.

One of the core principles of liberalism is the idea of the continual improvement of the human condition through scientific understanding and technological advancement.

    Marriage is a legal contract.

Well again opinions vary. Liberalism is based on a big brother sort of totalitarian government. Conservatism (in the US) is based on the Constitution which limits the role of government. Maybe you can explain how (for example) Fidel Castro improved the human condition. Or Pol Pot.

And a social construct. Why do liberals want to attack the nuclear family?

An example of how evolution works in steps, even though it sometimes looks to be gradual.

I think that your ideology might not reflect reality. The liberalism that I have been following for the past 60 years has nothing to do with, “big brother sort of totalitarian government”. I’m also quite sure that Castro and Pol Pot were not liberals.

Ah, I see your point now. Do you understand how observations like your example compound the mathematical improbabilities involved even in a gradualism model?

I state marriage is subjugation to the state. You come back with the assertion marriage is a legal contract. Uh, yeh. That’s my point.

Over the years liberals have moved to the left. All of the current Dem candidates for President are closet commies.

I mention Castro because everyone thought Castro was a liberal during the revolution. When he gained power he became a dictator. Pol Pot at one time was a school teacher. As a revolutionary he was allied with liberal democratic groups until he gained power.

So, are going to pretend I am an authoritarian? Did an authoritarian tell you to think that?

I still think that your ideology deludes you. If you want to play this game than I might as well be calling you a Nazi.

If you support government making decisions on who marries and under what circumstances and how marriages are dissolved, you’re authoritarian, not liberal. It’s common sense. You are pretending to be a liberal.

The government doesn’t decide who can marry who? Not anymore. That is what liberalism is about, expanding rights. Without an arbitrator, which the government is, it is the law of the jungle. The best solution has always been a government of the people, not an authoritarian ruler.

I compared Oppenheimer and crew to liberals of today that hate America and it's position in the world. It's apples and oranges to compare today's quasi communist to scientists in the 40s who developed technology to fight fascism and communism. Today they would be labeled as right wing nut jobs intent on destroying the world by the left.

The greatest form of brainwashing of school children is that of the Statist indoctrination that goes on in the schools. Children are taught about the Holy Presidents and taught to salute the magic flag.
