Sen. Susan Collins is getting death threats after impeachment acquittal

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine — Republican Sen. Susan Collins says she's getting death threats after her vote to acquit President Donald Trump at his impeachment trial, saying three of them were deemed “credible” and are being investigated.

Collins also received threats before when she voted to confirm Brett Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court. In October 2018, a threatening letter was sent to her Bangor home that claimed to contain deadly ricin. Her husband and the couple's Labrador retriever, Pepper, were both quarantined for a time.

Thankfully Senator Collins has law enforcement now actively protecting her.

Violence or threats of violence for political purposes is the definition of terrorism-so hopefully the perpetrators will be jailed.

These death threats come after a week of political victories for Trump and the Republican party.

 

Do you think someone considers her to be a domestic enemy? It seems that a lot of people have received death threats this week. People should be more friendly towards other people. trump is setting a bad example.

 

Most likely a leftist. Hopefully they will be made to answer for their crimes.

That said, death threats are sad, and need to be investigated, but have been apart of public life for a long time. A sad, but unsurprising act. People just take things way to far.

 

Sure, it takes two to tango, but Trump is taking the lead. He can't help himself. Just watch what he says...only recently when referring to Schiff, Pelosi, 'these people' as 'vicious' and 'horrible.'

 

Trump sets the scene as POTUS, the examplar, if you like, and there are dickheads who will take up on that.

I have the advantage of seeing this all from afar. (I have already declared my very anti-Trump grub bias, but I am not of the left or the right.) From down here, it looks like Trump goes out of his way to incite/inspire vitriol/appalling behaviour and it only takes a dickhead to convert that into 'death threats.'

No, our leadership, Congress and media have set the tone for a divisive political environment. The left has done plenty of damage, name what they have done to solve the problem? They don't even denounce these acts, they merely blame Trump! Which in itself is part of the problem...
