Trump is the reason the Socialists have become more influential in this country. If Hillary or on of the more centrist Republican candidates like Jeb Bush had won in 2016, the centrist Democrats would have consolidated power in their party.

You know, in the 2016 Dem presidential primary election I wanted Hillary to win over Sanders. That came true, but then she lost to Trump.

I would have agreed with you back then that the commie stuff was just too ridiculous. I haven't changed my mind that much. But whoever wins the Democratic primary, I'm tempted to vote for them.

The centrist Democrats are dinosaurs, they are done and there is a new Party in their place. Sad and I don't like it but just look at them. Trump got elected because so many of us saw the shift and tried to get out ahead of it.

So, instead of the Democrats having a party of centrist-consolidated power, they now have a fractured mess of Socialist candidates that are exerting their influence to send moderates running screaming towards the consolidation of centrist power which is currently found in the GOP.

    And it's all Trump's fault.

All they do is point fingers and rage. Mostly fake outrage and whining over losing power. Democrats are starting to move towards President Trump in great numbers while progressives drive the DNC further and further left.

It's not healthy for America to have such a large contingent of socialists and progressives. Hopefully it corrects itself. 4 more years of President Trump will help.

Because by policy preference the Dem Party leadership have been conditioning citizens to KNOW that the government owes them an easy life at the taxpayers' expense it is Trump's fault that the socialism chickens are finally coming home to roost on top of the DNC? Sweet!

Because the form of government they advocate is not compatible with the capitalist form that has sustained us for 250 years.

It would be more healthy if they would stop masquerading as Democrats and just call themselves the American Socialist Party. Maybe then the traditional Democrats could regroup somewhere closer to the center. What might really span the gap could be if those traditionalists and the GOP could get together and actually improve our healthcare system. Truly our system is fine, we have to change the way we pay for it and how much we pay.

They might as well just raise the Soviet Hammer and Sickle and at least be honest about their intentions.

The system does need some work and I agree completely with the underlined portion. Well said.

Has the USA really had the same system of economics since its birth, or, instead, since the 20th century? When the red scare happened and there was a cold war between ideologies?

Trump will not go after current Social Security benefits. That is a meme the dems bring up every time they think they are going to lose an election.
Trump WILL continue to go after the rampant wasteful government spending which translates to democrat panic. If you are on that list, it is OK to start breathing into a paper bag.

I like both the Democratic plan to raise taxes to pay for social security as well as the Republican idea to base future benefits on a lower inflation measure.

I don't know why the Dems and Repubs can't get into a room and iron out a 2-for-1 bipartisan deal.

The left has been taken over by the "progressive movement' which is 10x more vocal than the average democrat of a decade ago. They are now in the process of infighting to see who comes out on top. Either way, if the old guard wins and the crazy Bernie Freeshit Sanders arm refuses to go to the polls or vote third party. The crazy progressive wing wins and the more conservative arm of the party will stay home or vote for Trump just to stick it in the eye of the off the wall berniecrats.
Either way, Trump sits in the background and watches the catfight.
    All good stuff.

We need to do that to win. You pushed in that direction. Minorities and powerful women terrify you guys. We learned our lesson. In a vacuum, the Democratic field would resemble the Democratic Congress, which is fairly diverse.

The thought of a Bernie/Amy ticket appealing to anyone is just....unthinkable. Moderate Dems (and Trump supporters) are going to balk at a Bernie ticket no matter who he were to pick as VP. Socialists would expect him to pick a Socialist because of his age. He wouldn't betray his supporters.

Trump is "the system" now as much as Obama was "the system" for 8 years as much as Bush was "the system" before that. Not sure what "the system" you're talking about other than the duly-elected President.
