William Barr backstabbed Trump. How dare he say Trump is undercutting the DOJ’s position. Trump is the true head of the executive branch,

The DOJs position is TRUMP’S POSITION, this bs about independence is a Democrat talking point.

Trump needs to clean house, take out everyone who won’t plead their loyalty to him.

My bet is Barr went to trump and said something like: "I've been your puppet since day one and now you're embarrassing me by making it so obvious to the world that I've got to do something to try and save face. Let me come out making this remark to give the appearance I'm honest and above board but I'll continue doing your bidding. Is that o.k. with you?" trump has already said he's not bothered by Barr's remarks. The whole thing is b.s.

More liberal propaganda, “puppet”? TRUMP IS HIS BOSS, he has to do what Trump says. He has a moral obligation to listen to the people and be loyal to Trump.

So what if Trump told him to reduce Stone’s sentence, Trump should tell him and he should listen and act accordingly

This must be what you missed the day you cut school. Barr is not " trump's attorney". Barr has sworn an oath to the Constitution. However it's certainly become common knowledge that Barr is nothing more than trump's puppet.

I do understand why Trump tweets. He successfully gets his word out 1st hand around the left wing media. But..... as Mitch said, he made a wise choice in appointing Barr but he should listen to him. The President should not give the appearance he influences the Attorneys decision (even though I don't believe he has) it is ammunition into the hands of the enemy.

Barr made the decision before Trumps tweet. Don't try to spin.

No, he didn't. He came close to telling the truth. Close is enough to be the object of Big Fat Don's wrath.

The Constitution gave Trump the power of overseeing the executive branch per article 2.

Barr swore an oath to listen to the Constitution and the Constitution says listen to your president.

    Barr must obey Trump

Evidently you’re an authoritarian. Yeah, the DOJ was designed to be an independent agency. We wouldn’t want a single man determining what the law is or who should or shouldn’t be prosecuted. That would be un-American, don’t you think?

Barr didn’t backstab Trump. His word is as worthless as the President’s. Like the President his behavior—action— is what you watch. His nose is firmly planted up Trump’s rear. So he’s merely trying to save face in the legal community although if he keeps this up the ABA will be up his rear soon. They tend to be a slow acting association.

And who’da thunk, Trump just pulled a Ukraine on New York State. He’s so out of control he is not going to last beyond his first term if that. Then again, the Republican Party is a collection whimps and butt kissers cowering in a corner so you never know. Although there’s a price to pay for that behavior too.

Back stab? Criticism would be a better word. If you want to clean more of the house, Barr isn't where you want to go.

LOL, the DOJ being independent is just liberal propaganda.

how exactly is the DOJ designed to be independent when the President can fire the head of the DOJ and anyone at the DOJ?

Trump can’t fire judges because they are independent powers, he can’t fire a Congress.

would you call the courts and congress independent if Trump could fire them?

when someone can fire you, that makes them your boss, if the DOJ is independent why wasn’t it designed where the president can’t fire the attorney general?

Answer: the AG works for the president and is subservient to the president

I don't have an issue with Barr being critical of Trump's tweets, I actually agree with that statement.

Whether he's right (likely) or wrong its still a hindrance.

IMO he needs to put the phone down and stop the twitter crap, or at the very least have a small team of smart people pre-approving or deleting every tweet idea he might have before it goes out.

FWIW I don't follow his twitter, I don't follow anyone's, because IMO twitter is just a troll farm, and in many ways DJT is right up there with all the other annoying trolls.

I think the world would be a better place w/o twitter, although I do wish I had invested heavily in it early on :) (along with google/amazon/apple/microsoft and others)

All Twitter is, is a form of communication. Saying Trump shouldn’t tweet is the same as saying Trump shouldn’t talk. It’s insulting and if your own employees insult you, it’s time for you to go.

Trump is too impulsive with his tweets.

    He needs some maturity .

The problem isnt sessions or barr its trump.

Personally I hope he is teplaced at this point. He could get crazy in his last term. Come unwound.

But we can survive him regardless.

I am voting for sanders because we need to have some FDR influence in the oval office having moved too far to the oligarchy right with a complicit Clinton dem party. We need more balance.

Not like sanders can do much with two oligarch parties in congress .

I think the pundits are wrong. .Sanders is the only person that has a chance Unlike trump he is a real populist although trump ran as a populist the first time .

Me saying trump shouldn't tweet like a troll is most definitely an insult, I fully intended it that way.

He should learn to talk like a distinguished gentleman as well while we're being critical.

and I say this as someone who is 99% likely to vote for him in 2020, but that doesn't mean I think he's setting a good example.

Not that people will appreciate the reference because Romney is on a lot of peoples chit list lately, but recently (60 minutes?) he did an interview and he was asked about trump calling him a pompous ass, and Mitt smiled and responded with "well, maybe I am at times, check with my wife, she'll probably confirm that" <paraphrasing

perfect answer, smile, deflect, move the interview along.

If trump was asked the same question, his response would likely be, "he's a 3 time loser" or some crap like that and then call him a childish nickname, THEN he would finish the interview and go into twitter attack mode, hammering the guy with multiple tweets like an angry teenager, not cool. Very unpresidential.

The only reason his approval rates aren't 20% higher is because he acts like a jerk way too often, he should save that stuff for when he really needs the big guns to come out.

With that said,,, and this is important.. Lets compare his brashness to someone with a similar reputation and style...

    Charles Barkley:
I'm an NBA fan so I semi often watch the nba broadcasters on tv. (charles, ernie, kenny, shaq)

A guy like charles Barkley can get away with some shocking stuff, totally shocking, he can say stuff that none of the other 4 can say, and probably would get fired for... But Barkley has been saying controversial stuff since day one, and he never relents, so he gets away with his "off the cuff remarks" that nobody else can. If he gets called out, he brushes it off and says "so what, its true, the guy sucks at basketball"

Trump is the Charles Barkley of politics... perhaps if he behaved, and then occasionally goes "off" he likely would catch more crap than he does now.

So basically I do understand the dynamics of it all, but I still wish he would shut the F up.
