You're part of the problem. You're either too stupid to recognise it or stirring up racial hatred intentionally. It's hard to stop the difference sometimes.

I don’t conciser “white pride” to be hate speech when it is about actual pride or heritage instead of a thinly vailed attempt at racism. Even when it is a thinly vailed at racism it is just best ignore them unless they run over people — then it becomes an issue of hate.

So who are the authorities that determine 'hate'? You know that list never gets smaller, which is why sensible folks would avoid thought policing and just police actual crimes...

Hate crime is when someone is targeted because of a personal characteristic — but I agree it isn’t applied evenly.

No, you are part of the problem, "HonestJoe", because you and others like you are unwilling to acknowledge a double-standard that needs to be addressed, and unless people can talk about it that problem it won't get fixed. But there you are, trying to silence the people who are willing to address it, and accusing them of being either "stupid" or "stirring up racial hatred", which is so typical it's pathetic.

    Exhibit A:

Louis Farrakhan is one of the vilest racists and anti-Semites on the planet. Normally, cozying up to trash like him would make you a pariah, yet Barack Obama has gotten a pass and remains a much-revered figure in this country. If Donald Trump, for example, got caught in a photo rubbing elbows with David Duke the people who are giving Obama a pass (and others) would crucify him for it, and Trump would deserve it despite the abject hypocrisy on many people's parts.

But you want to pretend this problem doesn't exist and climb down into the sandbox and go ad hom on people who aren't living in your little cocoon of denial.

I was addressing a double standard. You don't fix double standards by just doing the same in the opposite direction, even in faux sarcasm. This isn't a problem with black racism or white racism, it's a problem with American racism. Until you can own that without playing off each other, it will never get any better.

You don't fix double-standards by silencing people and discussion. We're never going to address and remedy American racism unless we own ALL this ugly **** and get it ALL out in the open.

It always has been and should always be. If idiots want to be racist they hate the right to be so and to spout their idiotic opinions.
As long as they are not calling for violence we have to accept their idiocy.

Don't be racist.. let idiotic racists be racists until they violate someone elses rights then throw them in jail. You cannot prevent racism without trampling the constitution.

You folks do realize that white people are the ONLY group in America whom it is legal to discriminate against and that the government has created policies and programs that explicitly discriminate against them... right?

All this gnashing of teeth about racism...How come no one is clamoring to change that?

I wasn't trying to silence anyone, I was suggesting he should say more. It should be noted that there is more context around that poster than just the line he put on this thread. I totally agree with you on the correct approach which is exactly why I stand by my statement that he is part of the problem.

I'll defend the young woman's free speech. VA State's "Multicultural" Center is there for minority cultures (including LGBTQ). Instead of saying who the center is not for (white heterosexuals), the University's website states that the center was created to have the following groups have a space to gather and share ideas:

"The cultural communities we directly serve through the Multicultural Student Services include Asian/Asian Pacific/South Asian/Desi American (APIDA), Middle Eastern & North African, Hispanic/Latinx, Native/Aboriginal, and LGBTQ."

In other words, "No white people". They can do this rightfully due to the First Amendment's freedom of assembly, to form groups of like-minded individuals with common goals.

So, while it would probably be illegal to not allow straight white people to enter the center, the center wasn't created for them. The racist woman in the video is defending her turf.

Now I can agree with people on this thread who point out the utter hypocrisy that having spaces for non-white (unless that white person is not hetero) places is supposedly not racist, but that having spaces for white people (or having the Boy Scouts be just for boys) is racist (or sexist).

Anyway, the video highlights that the left-wing narrative of demonizing white people as "racists", while ignoring the fact that all races have racists, is pure political propaganda. And that's a good thing.

Take a gander at the University's website section for Multiculture Student Services.
    https://multicultural.virginia.edu/about

"Multicultural" is the new left-wing word for "Minority". It sounds all-inclusive, but it means "not white".

You don't have to be gratuitously rude to be woke. I can't support her on this obnoxious act. The kid needs to grow up.

Part of growing up is to say things the wrong way and have 7 out of 10 of your friends suggest that there are better ways to word things or, these days, to get a bunch of public criticism from having your words go viral on the internet.

She was in the right place to say what she said, as the MCC was opened specifically for minorities....but yes, there would have been many better ways to communicate her point.

She thought she was defending her turf but these centers are created in the spirit of inclusiveness not divisiveness. I understand that this doesn't sound intuitive. Their point is to ensure that everyone on campus feels welcome. Anyone of any race can enter the center. White students who wish to be in that environment are most likely not racists. All of the good people should shun the bad ones. She was obnoxious to people who were probably nice. That's not what multiculturalism is about.

After reading a few pages on the University's Multicultural Services website, it appears that the "Multicultural" Center was requested and set up by existing minority culture groups, for minorities, which certainly makes the word "Multicultural" a misnomer.

It appears to be more of a think-tank for left-wing political POC (and LGBTQ) activists to promote the "Minorities are victims of white colonialism" narrative and perhaps plot their political revenge against their imagined white "oppressors". I'm surprised they're tolerating white LGBTQ's in the group. This isn't the first time I've seen POC liberals tell white liberal activists that they don't need any help from white people. It probably won't be the last.

Anyway, it is interesting to see a trend in POC groups on campuses fight for segregation these days, particularly blacks. I'm seeing demands for black-only dormitories and separate graduation ceremonies for blacks. Democrats' years of trying to force desegregation on people who don't want to integrate has failed.

That woman could be a future member of The Squad with a little more "cultural" training.

The video below shows the better way to say that the POC movement doesn't need (or want) input from non-POC (white people), when their whole political narrative is essentially that "White people are the problem."

Don't mention "white people" and it's not an issue. That young woman at VA University will learn the proper wording quickly.

    The Squad's Anya Pressley...
