So you don't see Trump/Blago 2020 coming your way??

I see two peas in a pod there, and Trump can cut VP Clean out of the picture...

Can you imagine the pairing of those 2 con men?? Make "The Sting" look like a pair of guys hitting gumball machines..

I don't know the story about the bloke he favoured here, but...this is the harbinger for what is to come with say Manafort, etc. He will now be able to respond with....'Hey, I commuted your Democrat pal, so I am nor partisan.' Nah.

He does not need to be up to date, he just has to explain what happened.

Him, and particularly his wife know where the skeletons are buried so to speak.

Every President has pardon power, and every President has used said power. It would be wrong in fact if the President were all of a sudden prohibited from using this power. I would also argue that I think our Liberal friends are right: We have way too many laws and we incarcerate for far too much. When we incarcerate more per person then CHINA, it's time to revisit IMO.

It’s part of a longer term strategy. Trump is building the narrative that the justice system is unfair. He will develop this narrative that it is, in particular, unfair towards him and his family.
This will lay the groundwork for him to issue blanket pardons for himself and his entire family for any federal crimes they may have committed up to the date of the pardon. Which will be issued shortly before he leaves office.

He could have done that without letting his friends out of prison.

    8 years is enough.

    Deterrent objective achieved.

    Removed from power.

    Punished.

The environment and orbit that allowed criminal conduct is long gone.

There's no chance of repeat acts.

The man is no longer a threat to the community.

    It's over, let it go.

There might be component of this involved. Politics is an ugly business, and coups have consequences. Maybe Blago has some close held "insurance."
