We are implementing workable solutions. The U.S. has reduced our emissions more than any country for the last several years. We're doing it by making the production of energy processes cleaner. We also have a CO2 capture project working in Texas, where they contain 100% of the CO2 produced during resource processing. They're hoping to turn the CO2 which is captured into a useful product and start a new market. Innovation and technology....not government interference with a tax solution. Always better.

Bloomberg said he is okay that China keeps opening more and more coal plants. He said China is doing better because they're opening new coal plants further away from the cities....so their people can breathe.

He's a nanny-state control freak. Why ban large sodas and console people that they can just buy 2 mediums instead?

It's not enough, not even close. If the world produced our level of emissions, all would be lost. There's no way other countries are prepared to permanently hold their emissions below ours.
I don't care what Bloomberg, or Trump, did or didn't say.
The soda pop thing is a side show. The same with a lot of Trump's BS. We need to focus on important matters and not sweat nonsense. This country has far too many issues to resolve than get bogged down in culture wars.

What do you mean? Every other country, or the rest of the world versus just the U.S.? China and India? If there's no way other countries are prepared to hold their emissions below ours, then what sense does it make for our government to tax our energy production and punish American citizens into poverty. We are working on technologies and are reducing our emissions while other high-GDP countries are not. We will continue to be global leaders in cleaner methods and new methods of producing energy whether the government steps in with punitive measures.

On the other hand, high taxes on fossil fuels here but not in China/India means that we produce fewer products for export because manufacturing requires burning a lot of fuel. Our GDP tanks. Inflation in gas and electricity prices for our citizens means we can't purchase as many "nice things". Businesses shut down. No jobs.

We tank to 2nd or 3rd world status with western Europe, while the countries who think global warming is rubbish become the new world powers. China/India continue as the top producers of products, the Middle East becomes the sole producer of oil and gas, and Russia replaces us as a consumer country for China's output. CO2 continues to gradually increase by tiny steps over a thousand years. So yeah, let's ban fossil fuels here through government force while the eastern countries laugh at us and takes over.

I thought what candidates say might be relevant to bring up on a political forum during an election year. My bad.

Bloomberg was the one who made Big Gulps and salt intake important matters in New York. Just think how much micro-managing of every aspect of life Mr. Nanny State could do for the entire country.

Exactly what I wrote. We should adjust to the reality we will have to greatly reduce our greenhouse gases, not just hold the line. The same will be true for other developed countries.
What makes sense is getting together with other countries, rich and poor, to come up with a plan to stop adding greenhouse gases before we damage the planet for future generations.
An absurd claim about other countries.
We're not alone, or even in the lead, in addressing the problem. Your claim contains a large element of propaganda.
If we don't get away from this sort of short-term thinking, we won't solve the problem.
What I see now... the only technology we can employ quickly enough is electricity generated mostly by nuclear energy. Between the mostly rightwing deniers and mostly leftwing anti-nuke hysterics, we're not going forward with the only technology we know can make the difference. You seem to line up with the deniers.
Sure, let's mix in the culture wars so we can have the discussion focus on what idiots like Trump and Sanders are saying.
Meanwhile, the health of our planet is at risk while you're replaying the soda wars?

But if he um, commits suicide, dies an accidental death, or resigns, she'd become president, right?
