Not if he thought their sentences were unfair as well.

It's important to note, he didn't pardon the man. He didn't excuse his criminal conduct....he simply is saying 8 years is long enough to serve for that behavior.

    More bull **** from Trump?

    No thanks...

Even some conservatives on this site and R's around the country are against this abuse of power....

Particularly with his new mantra of fighting corruption. But somehow, his choices for clemency were all about corruption in their own actions.
Bernie Kerik, David Safavian, Michael Milken and Judith Negron, in particular, were all convicted of charges related to corruption and fraud.

Use of authorized power in this instance isn't abuse of power.

You object to the policy not the legality.

The tone of our politics of late is toward a banana republic model, jail the former administration. Trump just took a step back from that by commuting the sentence of a past shady politician at its midpoint. Like it or not politics played a part in Blogos trial and sentence.

Dems will keep Blago banished, republicans won't want much to do with him. Likely the best he can do is a janitorial or retail job. Maybe work at a Trump resort, as Trump heard the cries of his wife, and might again.

Any job is a job is a job and is like being a king or queen with honor instead of not working and shirking.

    From another source:

"Blagojevich did not get pardoned. His sentence was commuted to time served. The issue in his case was not whether or not he had committed unlawful acts; he did. The issue was prosecutorial misconduct. Notice that the appeals court had already thrown out most of the bogus convictions, but a few were upheld. The issue was the disproportionate sentencing by Comey et al on the few remaining convictions. Trump is making distinctions. However, it is clear from the record that Blagojevich was another victim of a Comey et al witch hunt. Some of this was fixed by the appellate courts, and Trump fixed the excessive sentence."

Heck, Obama pardoned 49 people convicted of firearm violations.

    Like what?

Did Obama pardon or commute the sentences of corrupt politicians or crooks from Wall Street?

You might disagree with criminal justice reform but the thousands of families reunited because of the president disagree. The first step act was just the beginning of ending the racist Biden/Clinton crime law

Yes... policy, not legality....abuse has 2 meanings.... Nobody has implied Trump doesn't have the right to do this idiotic stuff... But doing it for the wrong reasons and without valid rationales is abuse of that power...

Small 'a' abuse, not impeachable big 'a' Abuse...

You do realize that Obama pardoned more criminals than any other president since Truman, right?

He reasons is 8 years is long enough for the crimes he committed. That’s a right reason even if you disagree.

I get the dems new hero is Bull Conner Bloomberg and harassing and locking people up is the new motto...but the majority of Americans believe in criminal justice reform

He sure is. With that said, he doesn’t believe those convicted deserve draconian sentences...even if they are dems

According to some, pardoning and commuting the sentences of corrupt scumbags is "prison reform".

    *LOL*
