Is it possible to learn from the mistakes of others? For the Democrat candidates for President, apparently NOT. It's their arrogance that they think they know better. It doesn't matter to them that every socialist country that tried has failed.

Let's be blunt, the Democrat party can't even run a caucus in Iowa and get the votes correct. They are the same folks want to run your health care. Geez if they can't even get a simple vote count correct, do you really want them making decisions on your health care? Do you really want to give up your company sponsored health care for the above? I sure don't.

People also wait in the USA unless they're rich enough to cut line.
Hell, if you're poor you may not even be able to pay for your meds.

In Canada you may wait if triage found your condition not urgent enough, but rich or poor, if you've cancer you'll be taken care off and you'll be able to afford your meds since they are covered with the province med insurrance. And if you think the free option isn't enough and you've got the means, you can still go to a private clinic, but you're still covered for the meds.

All western healthcare systems, including in the USA, are facing increasing problems that ultimately boil down to the same core problems (increased costs, increased expectations, ageing populations and unhealthy lifestyles).

The people arguing for a sea-change to the US system are making exactly the same ignorant mistake that you're making in blaming the underlying system for any reported issues in the UK healthcare. Switching the system wouldn't automatically eliminate those problems and they could be resolved (or at least improved) within the existing basis system.

I'm also pretty sure that nobody is suggesting the US moves to a system anything like the NHS. They might be suggesting something very different to what you have at the moment, but whatever that turned out to be would still remain very different to the UK. And you'd still have your own unique problems and flaws.

Incidentally, if you want to discuss this further, remember that the topic is healthcare, not US partisan politics. I've no interest in responding to the words "Democrat" or "Republican". Few of your politicians (and few of ours) actually care about our healthcare anyway, they just care about getting (re)elected and I'm not interested in discussing those silly games.

Bear in mind the the primary goal of Medicare for All, Universal Coverage, Obamacare II or whatever is more central government control over the populace. Improved healthcare is simply window dressing and, if it happens, icing on the cake.

Kinda reminds me a a long ago line on the original Maverick TV show where "Pappy" was quoted as saying, "You can fool some of the people all the time, and all of the people some of the time, and them's purty good odds."

To be fair, in 2012, The Republicans claimed that Mitt Romney had won the Iowa Caucus ... two weeks later they had to back-track and admit they got the count wrong and Rick Santorum was declared the winner. At least the Dems got the count right- they were just slow on the process.

Any candidate that screws with our health care system does at their own political peril.

Did they get the count right in 2020? Imagine trusting the folks that couldn't get something as simple as the Iowa Caucus vote counts right and trusting them with your health care.

And yet the U.K. is ranked no 18 in the world for quality of healthcare, while the USA is ranked number 37????Maternal mortality rates in the USA are worse than third world countries. Our third leading cause of death in the USA is MEDICAL MISTAKES right behind heart disease and cancer. And we have the distinction of being by far THE MOST EXPENSIVE HEALTHCARE ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH!!!!

But they did get the count right, just not as quickly as they should. At least they didn't announce the wrong winner, like the Republicans did.

But healthcare goes beyond the Hatfields and McCoys. I watched my Dad burn through $700,000 due to a pre-existing respiratory problem prior to
the Obamacare protections. Luckily, he could afford it - barely. But we know there are about 40 million Baby-Boomers who could not. That's a problem
    that goes beyond petty partisanship.

He didn't. Asthma. Since age 2.
He had health insurance - but until Obamacare, they wouldn't cover his pre-existing condition.

We don't have a healthcare crisis. We have a government intrusion into health care crisis. What business do they have in MY healthcare?

I believe the democrats themselves have screwed the pooch on socialism. These folks cannot count votes and they want the American people to trust them with healthcare? You gotta be kidding me!

The wealth will go to the government elites. It will never make it to the less fortunate.

They have no business in our healthcare, but that won't inhibit them in the least.
