People are often afraid of handguns because they're apparently easy to conceal, much easier to conceal than a long gun. But really, it depends on the handgun, the larger handguns are not all that easy to conceal.

A really small handgun such as a Ruger LC380 will be easy to conceal. On the other hand, a handgun such as the one that Clint Eastwood used when he played Dirty Harry, a Smith & Wesson .44 Magnum is going to be really hard, if not impossible, to conceal in your clothes, unless you're wearing really heavy clothes. In the scenes where Clint Eastwood apparently had the gun concealed under his clothes in his shoulder holster, either the camera was at an angle where you couldn't see it or if the scene didn't call for it he wouldn't even be wearing it. So that being said, I can see why some people might want to more strictly regulate smaller handguns but larger handguns should be deregulated, they should be no more regulated than long guns.

The people who push gun regulations of any kind only have fear of guns in the context of how an armed citizenry gets in the way of their agenda.
Their useful idiots, however, have been trained to be afraid of guns. through their ignorance and unwillingness to learn.

All guns should be regulated. Concealed carry should be illegal.

And they are, at least all legal guns are.

So you're opting for open carry?

Firearms are already subject to significant and numerous regulations and restrictions. Those who do not understand such have no business attempting to call for more.

Ultimately for what purpose? The carrying of a firearm in furtherance of a crime is already an illegal act in and of itself, and those who have felony convictions cannot possess a firearm under any circumstances.

People intent on murdering other people aren't trying to conceal a gun.

Besides, how hard is it to carry a backpack or a gym bag?

How hard is it to conceal? Let's watch a video.

Yet criminals are always able to conceal their true intentions.

Does that mean open carry should be legal instead, or you just want to ban the bearing of arms?

You think rapists and murders are up front and let their intentions be known? The 200 pound rapist needs people like you to ensure the 98 pound victim has no defense.

Would you also disarm law enforcement?

My Chiappa Rhino .357mag is a bit on the bulky side for concealed, especially in warm whether where a jacket would be uncomfortable. It fits perfectly however into a slingable camera bag.

Most of the guns she had were small. I seriously doubt she could've concealed a Ruger Redhawk unless she put it in a backpack or gym bag as you mention, but long guns can be concealed that way too.

I hear what you're saying but lets be real even an S&W 500 is still easier to conceal than an AK-47....

It can be claimed due to how many criminals in the united states are given probation and early parole. Something that would not happen if they were honest about their intention of going right back to committing crimes the moment they are released.

I don't agree with the idea that concealed carry should be illegal. While I'm not someone who carries a gun, I do support the right of those who feel the need to carry a gun in public.

And an AK-47 is easier to conceal than a bazooka, your point?

What exactly is your point? That since my Colt SAA is more difficult to conceal than my S&W Shield therefore the Colt shouldn't have the same regulations as my EDC compact?

Handguns tend to be more regulated than rifles because regardless of the size of them they are still easier to conceal than any long gun. I agree with you that larger handguns should be deregulated, so should smaller handguns, and all guns. The Alaskan model of firearm regulation should be the standard across the board.

But using the argument of difficulty of concealment regarding larger handgun deregulation is a pretty weak argument. The folks who want handguns more regulated than long guns want it that way because they are easier to conceal than long guns whether it's a pocket pistol or a hand cannon.

Totally ridiculous on both counts, regulation leads to confiscation and concealed is one of the best methods of self defense.

Well I would want some regulation on guns that I get and use just like I want some regulation on food that I eat. I wouldn't want any food that I eat to be poisonous and I wouldn't want any gun that I use to blow up in my hands.

What regulations do we have on guns that protect the consumer from the gun "blowing up"?

The reputation of the company that made the gun. I trust Ruger and I own a whole bunch of Rugers myself some of which I've fired hundreds or even thousands of times. I've never known of a Ruger blowing up when being properly used.

That's not a regulation, akin to those that keep your food from being poisonous.

These are industry standards, not regulations.
