the US obviously has room for improvement, but we have come a very long way in terms of recycling, air pollution, water pollution, etc. And we still have a long way to go. But Asia and Africa are by far the worst offenders.

If it's voluntary, it's not socialism. Socialism has a compulsory nature. Farm cooperatives are nothing at all like socialism.
