No, memory is fine. I guess I will know more about the War in the South Pacific than you do. The Japs stopped shooting at my OId Man after Nagasaki.

nope...definitely not a VC.... but then again in todays PC world where everyone's a hero, of course you'd give him a VC...because it's PC (sorry I had to add the last bit because I was enjoying all the ABC's)

There was an investigation and some **** stirrer... PC hero you want to give a VC.... is smearing the entire unit, because that is what happens when you make this stuff public. It damages the unit. Soldiers are rarely seen as acting as individuals... because.... all together now... they are a unit and these types of smears reflects on the unit. How is this good?

Yes, it does (obviously) reflect on the entire Regiment which now ought to be disbanded.......roll all the relevant heads...and start a new SAS Regiment from scratch. This cannot stand.

The media publish reports and videos of alleged criminal acts all the time. Why would this one be any different?

That's a tough call but without seeing more I won't rush to judgement, the guy could have reached for a weapon or the soldier thought his 'prayer beads' were a detonator.

Really? I'll be in very good company then. The far greater danger to Australia is to allow any bastard who commits a War Crime to walk....even, in one case, get a VC.

The Anzac Sass are fine people and this shouldn't blemish them in any way, this rather reminds me of the case of Marine M who finished off a wounded Taliban but after multiple tours of Iraq/Afghan which undoubtedly affected his mental state

You'll be in the company of a thief, a traitor and a backstabber with an axe to grind. We should not be sending warriors in to do peacekeeping jobs. This is part of Obama's "let's be nice to the terrorists, let there be peace with a hug & smile" bullshit. Do you know how many civilians have been killed by UN peacekeepers. Can you "while sitting in your underwear in front of your computer" chomping on your snacks know what went through that soldier's mind in that particular moment. Was he primed to kill.... of course he was, he is trained to kill not to keep the peace. It is unfair for us to put a gun in their hands, give them the right to take life in a blink of an eye.... then turn around years later and say... well we think in that split second you made the wrong decision... and we do this in the court of public opinion. Nope this is crap, this is rubbish and it is wrong.

Gee, lots of hyperbole there. That killer was in total control of the situation. He did not immediately shoot. He asked three times...'Do you want me to drop this crunt," or words similar. He then murdered the bloke. Inescapable. Why bother even attempting to deny the obvious. Even Australian Government Ministers have condemned this crap. What is your excuse for condoning an obvious murder?

Mai Lai happened. Yes. Calley got off extremely easy. He was given a life sentence but only served 3 years of house arrest. Not one of America's better moments, and not typical for America soldier behavior in that God forsaken slimehole...

It was quite typical behavior however for the communist invaders.

Take young men, pump them up, give them guns and drop them into danger and you expected, maybe, cooking lessons be conducted? Sewing circles formed? Sunday School established?
This is what you get when you wage war and it is the reason you don't wage war unless this is what you want.

And the inexcusable murders at Kent State with the guilty set free? People at the Nuremberg trials were hanged for as much.

If anything, the soldiers at Kent State that didn't fire on the crowd should have fired on those who were.

No, activists shouldn't have turned violent so there would have been no call for the national guard to be there in the first place.
