This is beyond "if you are sick" that is normal every year flu advisory. We weren't cancelling foreign flights into the country, we weren't telling people who were not sick to stay home and not go to bars and restaurants. Disney didn't shutdown. The streets weren't empty. To compare that to now is laughable at best.

I’m ready to leave neoliberalism behind.
Trump has been more of the same and it appears his term will end like his businesses with everyone else holding the bag. There’s nothing like putting a KNOWN incompetent in charge of our well being.

UK not US and a short halt to Mexico. Not global not a complete shutdown. Again to compare that to now is laughable at best.

12000 died from Swine Flu in the US. Do you want that repeated?

England had 142 total deaths from swine flu. The Corona virus has claimed nearly that number in less than two weeks

    Where'd you get that idea?

YES this is an entirely different ballgame. I'm watching the governor of Maryland announcing that ALL bars and restaurants in the state are closed. Can you point to anything close to that in the Swine Flu period?

    Apples and oranges

Because they don't want 12000 people to die from the coronavirus! Which bit don't you get?

The deaths per day in the first three weeks of coronavirus is much greater than the swine flu was in its first three weeks. At the current rate, 12000 deaths will appear like a drop in the ocean compared to the number of deaths for the corona virus
