    Speculating off this news that more than likely the Chinese will get access to the Canadian market for 5G now that the UK is allowing them a 35% market share. If India gives them a large market share on hardware for their 5G network Huawei will be in pretty solid spot volume wise despite US efforts to stop their growth.

    After US has sold all technologies to China, it is extremely stupid to try to stop China.
    It is like selling your car to neighbor and then trying puncture his tires to prevent him from driving.

    Jkca1, I think you might be missing kreo's point. The US has been losing manufacturing to China for a long time in large part due to intentional US federal government policy. Remember the phrase "most favored nation trading status"?

    Innovation is almost by definition associated with manufacturing processes.

    Survival of the fittest and ruthless competition is a hallmark of both Eastern and Western philosophies - but never more-so actualized than by the US, until China and India decide to play with the endorsement of US corporations. Boo-hoo, Cisco got screwed by Huwei because they wanted cheap manufacturing.

    Here's an excellent book on the subject well over 20 years prior to the Atlantic article, https://www.amazon.com/War-Other-Means-Economic-Espionage/dp/0393318214

    I agree with some of Kreo's post. It may be too late to save ourselves, but that doesn't mean we should open the doors to make it easier for China to spy. We should we admit screwed up by selling China anything that could help them advance out of the stone age and not enforcing the IP laws. But $$$ was made so we looked the other way. Now the world pays. Now they, China, have the capabilities to take Chinese technologies and insert malicious updates at will. That is what scares the intelligence communities;

    "This is not about finding "backdoors" in current Huawei products – that's a fool's errand," said Democrat senator Mark Warner recently to The Verge. "Software reviews of existing Huawei products are not sufficient to preclude the possibility of a vendor pushing a malicious update that enables surveillance in the future. Any supposedly safe Chinese product is one firmware update away from being an insecure Chinese product."

    https://newatlas.com/huawei-ban-us-what-spy-evidence-exists/59772/

    Also please review https://www.bloomberg.com/news/feat...ny-chip-to-infiltrate-america-s-top-companies

    You will see how China is already using their chips to spy on the world;

    "The attack by Chinese spies reached almost 30 U.S. companies, including Amazon and Apple, by compromising America’s technology supply chain, according to extensive interviews with government and corporate sources."

    https://www.bloomberg.com/news/feat...ny-chip-to-infiltrate-america-s-top-companies

    It may already be too late to find safe harbor. But we need to try and contain the Chinese.

    Thanks for that link, rather a long read, but it only serves to reinforce that the ship has sailed unless the US is prepared to fight economic war with nuclear weapons. Competition rather than containment would IMO be the solution, but there is no chance that our Deep Street controlled federal government will pass any laws to enforce US manufacturing from US corporations. Particularly after 50 years of mutual corporate and government cooperation having setup the shot, so to speak....

    And we spy too - how many articles would you like. You are kind of correct in that there is an economic war going on. Our objective is to first out compete them - failing that we engage in political and other forms of pressure .. "Some Enemy destroying us" conjures up a Military War - and this is not that.. albeit it is a war - one that we are Losing.

    We used to just "whisper" our desires into the ear of a nation and they would come running to comply. Now - barging through the door with a big stick ... and even our lapdog tells us to piss off - never mind the rest of the EU.

    Back then we were the only game in town - and everyone wanted to play. Now - our leaders just act like we are the only game in town - based on a flawed assessment of the geopolitical chessboard.

    Your a little late to the Party. We got intellectual property in the Trade deal ! ... good -- Finally !!. Problem is that they already stole all of it a long time ago - Now it is China that is coming up lots of new intellectual property - which it wants protected - and respected.

    This is not what winning looks like - this is what a kid looking after a lost ball looks like.

    ~ This is true. Trump is the first to call attention to this blunder by several previous administrations. Let us hope he is successful in reversing the damage before it's too late.

    China would be a good economic refuge when weather becomes stormy between UK and EU.
    UK needs revenues of course and China have lots and lots of it.

    It is more UK and US. For some reason Trump does not want to treat UK as equal partner.

    That's a good point for the US and Britain were concubines in terms of global relations, they are secret lovers.

    I think 5G should have only limited coverage, like in coffee shops, or specific designated areas people can go to.
    It doesn't make sense to be blasting 5G all over the place.

    Many European countries citizens are showing violent opposition to the installation of 5G equipment, as they fear the effects of the radiation it may be emitting??

    This decision by the British must be revisited in view of the clear threat China poses to the free world
