China doesn't have the military power of Russia - or at least not yet. China's needs are naval, the same as the US, that's why it's building air craft carriers. While Russia needs to protect its borders from attacks - thus all the tanks.

By the way the reason Russia's military costs are so low, is because they find it cheaper to renew existing jets and equipment rather than buying new ones. Also they have no need of importing products to build new jets, tanks, or what not since they have their own natural resources and high tech components. Other than that, Putin cracked down on graft, while we use our money printing machine to cover the extra costs.

As for Syria, Putin said they would have been training the men in Russia so the costs of being there, are basically the same. Besides that, the training they are getting by being in an actual combat zone is immeasurable.

Russia feels the same way now in Italy against the corona virus. It will give them a greater understanding of the corona virus, and any other biological threat. I say this, because the American army has three labs on Russia's borders, one in Ukraine, one in Kazaktan and one in Georgia.

Here's a comparison of the 2020 military might between the Russian Federation and the US.

It's a matter of self preservation. Poland is the only nation stupid enough to provoke Russia.

China has a larger economy than Russia.
China spends 3 times more on its military than Russia.
China has a larger military than Russia.
    What am I missing?

Yes, the NATO Poles refused passage through Polish airspace for the Russian aircraft bound for Italy with humanitarian aid.

A very simple demonstration of just who the bad guys are and who the good guys are.

While the world is suffering, the US adds more sanctions, even as US consumers of the mainstream media are told that the US is a "force for good" in the world.

As China, Russia and Cuba provide emergency aid, Americans are told those damn socialists are evil people.

Today paRussia reported 601 new cases.
Pootin is asking governors to take responsibility and to take control. 3 governors already resigned.
Considering the fact that almost everything in Russia is for show and the sad state of their healthcare + huge amount of population with poor immune system due to smoking, alcoholism and drugs on the top of other problems, I would not be surprised to see Russia completely devastate by the virus.
It shouldn’t really be a surprise to anyone if we see NATO trucks driving through Moscow next month as a returned favor. ;)

paRussia is almost at 1,000 new cases per day now.
Give it 2-3 weeks and the WuFlu will explode in their faces. Moscow will be like New York (perhaps the only thing Russians can ever hope to catch up with Americans on).
Some regions started to block roads to other regions. Chechnya is a good example. Could paRussia fall apart after the pandemic is over? @zoom_copter66

Well the paRussia has already cancelled Intl flights coming into Russia due to the *****o bat virus. 1000+ cases just today of the Wuflu....and that's probably just in Moscow area, never mind the rest of the RF. Dear Leader working "remotely" now I hear. That's wide open to interpretation....maybe he got outta Dodge?

And to top it off Putinka figured he'd try to kill off US oil production. Nice try.....how you liking $18 bbl oil. More Russkis now will probably start chewing kneecaps since they won't be able to afford food.

What was Eastern Siberia before will be New China. :)).

What do you think about mini carriers? Instead of one huge target, use many smaller/cheaper carriers that field a handful of aircraft each. We could still 'project' where necessary, reduce collective target vulnerability, and in addition scale response according to situation. If we need a lot of airpower, we send more mini carriers, or, most of the time, just one or two, and maximize coverage at less cost.

And yet we have been supporting terrorists in Syria. Every false flag attack was at a time the terrorists were losing the battle to Assad's forces, and needed our help. But we weren't the only ones supporting them, our allies like Britain, France and others were as well. Turkey of course was in the forefront.

Hey Zoomy, Russia is totally self sufficient in food, thanks to the EU's sanctions. Now what's going on in Ukraine, I read that Zelensky is having trouble with the Nazis, so to maintain control, he's restarting the war with Donetsk and Lugansk. He's filling up the ranks with terrorists gifted by Erdogan. But then again, terrorists, Nazis what difference.

In these countries, and I'm going to include Poland with them, it's not the people that have problems with Russia, but the American supported governments - so they are not really representing the people.

If they have the knowledge, the organization and resources to help Italy, Serbia and Belarus, I'm sure they have the knowledge and resources to help themselves. Can we say the same?

You know jealousy is an awful thing. No good can come of it - as we have seen in Ukraine. [IMG]

Lol....it's not a case of American supported govt's in above mentioned states.....all former East Europe countries have issues with paRussia in general! That's why they're in RU and NATO....being under the Soviet yoke did no favors whatsoever...lol.

You're missing a lot! China can't match Russia's strength because it doesn't have Russia's technology - although China is now concentrating on aircraft carriers because of the threat imposed by the US.

Look at it this way, Moscow doesn't spend money foolishly and refurbishes whatever it can. Also it has it's own natural resources and high tech equipment so the costs for the arms are very low since they don't have to import anything.

Russia's main problem is its population. Right now they have half the amount of people as the US, and yet Russia is three times as large. There is no way a nation can't build up its economy and develop itself without people.

If the people in Ukraine didn't favor Russia, then why was Yanukovich elected, and why did Nuland need a coup to put in an American installed government?

No Zoomy, only the nations on the Western part of the Orthodox/Catholic divide are Western leaning - and even that is questionable. As we decrease in power, and as the fear of Washington subsides, you'll start seeing even the Catholic countries drifting towards Russia..

    LOL....oh please....China can't match Russia's strength?

If China wanted....they could walk in and take what they wanted.....anytime just about.

    What would Russia do.....nothing...militarily.

All it has is it's couple hundred workable nukes.

Most didn't favor Russia or Yanukovich. All of Ukraine rejected Yanukovich....even his closest circle.

Catholic countries have no interest drifting towards Russia. There's little to no commonality.

Yep....self sufficient in food, but many Moskalis can't afford to eat.

Just like in the 30s.....tons of food but still starved.

Zelenskys issues are fighting vatnik regulars in DPR that don't abide by the Minsk agreement. Where do you get terrorists filled by Erdogan?

The only Nazis are in your head Jenny.....and every other Potemkin village clowns idea that there is.

It is true that the US has exacerbated the issues - but there was some bad blood in some of these places previously.

We have something like 7 of these mini carriers - well - mini by our standards - these amphibious assault vehicles would be a full size carrier to most other nations.

These are more than able to handle any conflict - which mostly includes taking out terrorists. Iran is the biggest enemy that we face militarily - a few mini's should be more than enough - especially considering we also have numerous bases in the region we can operate from.
