Democrats have been loudly proclaiming the US is the new epicenter of the corona virus by pointing out it has the most cases of the disease. This is utterly fatuous. On a per capita basis the US is of middling interest.

Here is a link to a chart which can sort by confirmed cases and confirmed deaths by million population. You can see the US is way down there.

Strictly in the medical sense - the US is currently the hotspot for virus transmission. That's simply a fact. It lives outside of who is President. Statistically, the US is currently the most active in pure numbers of transmissions. That's simply a scientific fact. It lives outside who is President.

Now if want to argue that some places may not have complete data, or enough testing, that would be a valid argument.
But given current data, it's purely a medical and scientific fact that lives outside of your political persuasion.

Democrats would prefer the USA become more in line with Europe. Globalized in other words. As long as America still has Christianity and any national pride, The Globalists and Elites with trick the minions to hate anything Christian and anything uniquely American, especially the 2nd amendment.....according to them that HAS to go. (And it is going...slowly but surely..one step at a time. In NJ for example there already is no 2nd amendment for all intents and purposes)

Anyway, yeah, they will say and do anything to help topple America. This is not surprising. What's surprising is the lack of American's will to push back and save their country. The silence and quiet resignation is literally going to kill us.

"Anything uniquely American"? Short of what is left of the American Indian Tribal culture, is there anything that is "uniquely" American? Most of our traditions have European roots - Even our Christianity. Mormanism and Scientology are American creations - but do those really need "protection"?

I support the right for individuals to own guns, but I don't believe the Founding Fathers would freak out about restricting some gun accessories or certain designs. There will come a day when hand-held weapons could be designed that were so deadly, that they should be limited to military use only.

Will America "end" if we evolve to meet the changes that technology will bring? No. I see a lot of bombastic rhetoric in the OP - little else.

Right, we're only 100k confirmed cases ahead of the next country, Italy. Fewer deaths per million won't be any kind of a clear indicator until after the virus has run its course. Even with a scarcity of tests, we have more infected. Imagine what those numbers would bee if we could test adequately.

Look at it this way: Trump should be pleased. You know how much he loves have the biggest or the best ever anything.

Making this about Christiany is inane. The virus doesn't care which imaginary friend you worship.

I still don't get it. All indications are that the Chinese have grossly underreported their medical statistics. It is also questionable whether China has in fact abated the spread, let alone managed to effectively contain it. How is it even remotely possible that folks can so quickly wag their magic finger to make China disappear from this?

Knee jerk Trumpery aside, it is the World Health Organization that identified the United States as having the potential of becoming the epicenter of the coronavirus based upon the “very large acceleration” in coronavirus infections in the United States.

The pandemic that has been increasing in intensity in the U.S. is, obviously, an implicit refutation of Trump's fake claim that it was "under control" and was going to "go away!", but the WHO's assessment is not about Trumpery. It is an apolitical assessment of the geographical spread of COVID-19.

It is purely a political fact insofar as the boundaries are politically determined. If you chose to enumerate the cases of the EU as opposed to individual European countries, the EU would be the epicenter.

That is why enumerating per capita is the proper measure.

Show the data of "increasing intensity," then. All I have heard reported is the gross number of cases which, as I have pointed out, is misleading.

You can break it down a thousand different ways - but for media consumption, I think that readers are more interested
in local numbers so they can make safety judgements. Saying that the rate of infection is higher in Milan than in Chicago doesn't give much help to the people of Chicago.

For Trumpies to point out the deaths or cases per million says the USA is "middle od the road" is making light of the dramaric acceleration of increases of in America.

What is particularly cynical for Trump is that the USA still has significantly prevented people to get a test! (I can't find one, despite that I am around hospital labs sometimes! I would like to know if we can be around each other, but Trump says no!)

So who knows how many sick people are walking around others! We have deaths of people who are denied care because they don't have insurance!

There is a clear effort to minimize the Trump administration to prevent the true extent of COVID disease and cover their failures, and the Trump encourages news like this topic to hide the true destruction of Trump's and the Republicans' failures.

For those living in LA, NY, Seattle and etc, what Dems are saying is totally true. Which is to also say, its true for most Dems, cuz thats where they live.

In most of (or the rest of) America, its not true.

It all comes back to, as these things keep doing, the perception divide between urban and rural America.

Both increasingly opposing cultures are lacking understanding of the others situation/position.

"Dramatic acceleration of increases" is just the nature of exponential spread of infectious diseases. Do you have any data showing the doubling time of infections is much greater in the US than in Europe?

So, what is the "true destruction" if not the per capita death per million?

What statistic do you want to use? Or do you just want to carry on?

Maybe not, but we have something to help the hungry, broke people of Chicago that Milan doesn't have... Overprivileged celebrities who can read books and sing songs. No child shall ever go hungry again. Bring on the books, Amy! Bring on the live music, Rzeznik! Let's feed these kids some words and harmony!

Yes, you can break the numbers down in a thousand different ways, each of which is useful for certain applications. The MSM is breaking down the numbers in a way useful to bash Trump.

In fact, the NYTs cited the total number of infections to show the US as the epicenter, but cited the number of tests per thousand to show the US is lagging the rest of the world. And they did this in the same article!

Do you think that is honest?

Do you think that is an honest approach?

I certainly am interested in local numbers. My county just reported the first death but the number of new infections seem to be slowing.

The left’s goal isn’t to help rid the U.S. of the virus. The left’s goal is to destroy Trump. If that means politicizing the virus, so be it.

If you're going to lie, be smart about it. You can look and see when I posted and compared it to the fact you edited your post 2 minutes after I posted. Nice try though.

    So you did miss it.

Are you unhappy that I included as source. I know you won't believe me, but I hadn't read your post before I corrected my post.

In any case, what about the corrected post is a lie. The US is doing better than many countries on a deaths per million basis.
