What do you crave? What makes U tick? What is getting under your skin?... I'm actually blessed to be on a ranch with thousands of acres at my disposal, but it all seems to be closing in on me - because I have the compelling need to get back to Society... I crave the hustle & bustle of my 'day job' in the city (probably because it's 'something that I can't have'). I'm reverting back to my petulant childhood antics, perhaps... Any excuse to go out to the store - just to see new people, even from a distance, lol.. Am I alone here, or are y'all feeling this compulsion too? I have to check a bunch of cattle fencing today... what are Y'all up to? Somehow I'm really interested in the mundanities of others lives (go figure)...
The wife and I live inside Houston, which means that normally we are always surrounded by people and noise and activities. On the other hand it has been nice to actually hear next to nothing since this city more or less has shut down. The last time it was this quiet was the first few days after a hurricane strike. Quiet but eerie. Since we are writers and scholars -- of a sort -- heavy readers and also artists our downtime has been a bit more of a personal blessing than a curse, although we are well aware that things can flip for us in a heartbeat. For social 'contact' -- outside of the Internet -- we go for a walk in a nearby park once per day and wave at a handful of other people keeping their safe social distance. It's enough for us. People watching is enough.
I'm pretty much just lounging around the house browsing the internet and reading. Doing little chores around the house that I've been putting off for months. I've been cooking more since I actually have the time to do it now. It's snowing outside right now so I'll have to go and plow the driveway with the 4 wheeler once it stops. Not much has changed in my life since I'm pretty isolated on a normal basis. It's just as quiet here now as it would be if there were no lockdown going on. I'm not really a people person so not interacting with people is pretty par for the course.
Life is pretty normal for me as I am essential. I did wake up with a fever on Wednesday so I stayed home until Monday. I have enjoyed the rest.
I lived in paradise for over twenty years. But eventually it became a prison. The thing I got sick of the most was all of the dead animals. When you live in the sticks you have to deal with a lot of death.
