Yes, and the equation counts the number of whole days since Feb 28. So the totals for the entire day are needed. I did estimate the half day number, which would mean noon, so we see those numbers in the late afternoon at best.

I think the posters here and the press too are too much focused about numbers and what politician are right or not.

I think people should discuss more alternative treatments for the virus. Questions like:
    does garlic help?
    does ginger help?
    does curcumin help?

I agree, especially when you are still in the middle of a global pandemic and are focusing on what was said previously and not what is done now. Once we passed through this, the political arguments will be more timely, unless a politician is doing something right now that is clearly wrong.
People should focus on the things that health care professionals are telling them. While a new virus such as this will even occasionally prove their advice wrong at times, its still the best they can do. Looking for "home remedies" that haven't been endorsed by professionals isn't the right way to handle the issue. Instead, focus on doing what the health professionals are saying: avoid getting of your home as much as possible, wash your hands regularly, wear a face mask, avoid close contact with people if possible. And do all the things that help people remain healthy generally and avoid those that are known to be not so helpful to your health and immune system generally.

That is still happening EVERY day. This is the killing fields for the GOP. Watch what happens as the red states take off. They are committing suicide RIGHT NOW.

For example, the Gov refuse to close churches in Florida. I watched as the sheep entered claiming to be protected by the blood of christ.

Trump continues to shake hands and refuses to use a face mask when meeting with other world leaders, and has to brag about it. What does that say to his cult?

Trump and the RW media are still killing people by the tens of thousands.

Most people in the south lived on farms and never went hungry My dad said they ate well but there wasnt any money. Getting a pair of new shoes was rare .So many people had plenty of food and milk

The jobless urban people went hungry. Old pics from that era showed many as really skinny.

Today the family farm is long gone . And even rural people dont ggarden much although my son in law has a small one every year and I had a big one up until my age and health sstopped me . My son in law has the land to raise plenty of food. But their home insurance forbids livestock or chickens for meat and eggs.

So for my family during the depression wasnt horrible but not much money in ciirculation

Americans were tough people back then and life was hard and they worked all the time. We ate too spoiled today and soft in mind and body .

My own, political, commentary on the subject is as follows:

1- Clearly, and without doubt, Trump and the 'right wing media' viewed news about the virus initially through the prism of how it would affect the economy, the stock market, Trump and his reelection chances. Hence, the early reaction of all of them was terrible.
2- Some Democrats, as well as the WHO, were also guilty in a different sense, albeit for a shorter time than the other side. They basically were a bit slow in advising people to avoid travel, large gatherings and other such contacts. Once they changed their tune, however, and began emphasizing the dangers of the virus, the 'other side' looked at their warning as a 'hoax' to derail the economy etc.
3- There are still plenty of right wing personalities and politicians who haven't come to terms with the reality of the situation, especially in light of many of them being on record dismissing the concerns about the virus spreading.
4- There will be foolish moves and even dangerous ones by politicians trying to cater to one or another group that forms their base of support. They should be called on it. The example you gave about the Florida governor and his refusal to close church gatherings is one such example. It reminds me of what we saw in Iran: while the government, and even Iran's Supreme Leader, endorsed closing mosques and Friday prayers, we had some ultra conservatives in Iran who were protesting the move! Unfortunately, there will always be people who will be even more "Catholic than the Pope"! And, obviously, I find criticizing them for promoting what is clearly a public health danger the right thing to do.

Trump bet the lives of tens of thousands of Americans, if not more, that this would fizzle and he could claim it was all a hoax.

Perhaps it is cultural. Perhaps you haven't spent enough time listening to trump. You don't seem to grasp the incredible stupidity of trump. He is truly shockingly stupid and arrogant. Even more horrifying is the ease with which he dupes his flock of true believers with nothing more than a used car sales pitch.

We have an idiot in charge and 40% of the country is completely out of touch with reality.

And I was a Republican half of my adult life, Independent now. I'm telling you, we are not only in the middle of a pandemic, we are suffering the ills of a nation with 40% of the voters unfit for duty and a clown at the helm. Every day it is painful to watch. The rw media and trump have utterly destroyed the nation through pure stupidity.

Now they are killing people by the tens of thousands. And every day they just make things worse.

I don't disagree with anything you said, except I am fully aware of Trump's failings and faults:) The only thing I like about him is that he is so transparent being who he is.
My real point is that the best time to hold the overtly political arguments about what he did wrong may not be during a pandemic, in part because that would elicit the opposite reaction in the "40%" (or a large chunk of them) you allude to. And that opposite reaction can make things much worse.

Peak only occurs AFTER a FULL effective LOCKDOWN has been in effect for about 21 DAYS.

When did LA implement their Stay At Home and how effective is it? Can you still attend church and buy guns? If yes then your peak could take longer than that period.

Because he is way too stable of a genius for any virus to catch him! ;)

Alternatively he is just too stupid to understand that he is in the High Risk Group.

TBH it is the other people on that podium I am concerned about because he is probably exposing them to becoming infected.

I have not encountered anything substantive that supports that it is possible to get it more than once.

    SCNR! ;)

By the time the experts are calling for peak, that will be longer than 21 days. I don’t live in Louisiana and haven’t for 5 years. What I said was the nation in general not just a single state.

There is no "nation in general" because there is no LEADERSHIP for the entire nation.

The chart refers to the REGIONS that went into lockdown, not nations.

Has wherever you now live gone into an effective lockdown yet?

it's the worst time to be a partisan hack but some people cant take a day off. they are addicted to complaining like a crack addict to the pipe.

I'd listen if ONLY I thought the counterpart was even a slight improvement instead of a severe downgrade. An impressive feat, not easily accomplished.

interesting thought process, honestly ( and I've seen way too much news) I have not heard of a single thing except stay home and wash your hands, both of which I'm super bored of hearing about and doing.

I have stepped up my vitamin c doses and im certainly eating better than ever since I'm cooking every day, but the downside is that my creativity in the kitchen usually.means at least one trip to the store, I cant help it.

anyone with time to pass might enjoy joe rogans most recent podcast with Eric Weinstein 4/3/20. they go into govt reactions (failures) related to covid at length, among other things. I'm still not finished with it, been pulling in small segments on my short bike rides to get some air and sunshine. so far it's been pretty dam good.

Umm...That requires a single payer type of system, and a good system network (especially in an age of digital doctors)...We dont have that.

So everyone is getting free faux wanna be doctor advise from people that need more clicks on their site to maintain an income stream.

Remember Single payer isnt socialized medicine.

    Trump never stops the stupidity.

Today the CDC recommends that everyone wears a mask to help prevent spreading the virus. Trumps says, wear a mask, don't wear a mask, its voluntary, I'm not wearing a mask.

He just killed a bunch more people with this idiotic statement.

My equation didn't hit the mark this morning. This suggests that the spread is slowing a bit. But it could be latency in the updates. Too soon to tell,

US: 8162 deaths, 301,000 known cases = 2.7% morality rate.
