    No, sorry, that's a Capitalist system with some social programs.
    It's also pretty good.

    Example.
    Governments sometimes pick "winners." I follow the NASA procurement and have watched how
    Lockheed and Boeing spent over 40 billion dollars on something which hasn't flown since its
    inception during the Clinton years. But then nimble SpaceX is starting to shift the sentiment
    of Congress. Boeing was part of a Vendor driven space program, but private enterprise is
    breaking through this. And nations which allow their private sector to flourish (remember, your
    socialism would support Boeing - private enterprise will pick SpaceX) are the ultimate winners.

    I'm not sure what your argument is really. This is a crisis where the free market is forced to shut down and the government is compensating by sending "free" money to those who haven't earned it. Sounds like a case of temporary marxism. It's not a thriving situation right?

    Once the crisis is over...the free market will boom and capitalism will bring about an incredible recovery.

    As it is now, even in the crisis, the free market creates innovation. Many businesses have adapted, changed to accomadate the market by offering tele services, curbside pick up and delivery. Some have gone online. Innovation thrives in a capitalistic society.

    And I would endorse our corporations, banks, as well as millionaires and billionaires be as tightly regulated and heavily taxed. Those who would opt out refer to post #48...

    Why do socialists and communists live in the US. NOTHING stops you from leaving. NOTHING. Go. Just go and live your utopian life. They might just take you.

    Oh wait!! What’s that?? China might not let you in? They might not accept you? Or if you were already living there, they don’t have to let you leave. They can actually make you disappear for typing what you’re typing right now if you were advocating for Capitalism for example. The freedom you enjoy right now doesn’t exist.

    GET IT YET?

    That's not a reflection of the economy that is a reflection of government fiscal policy.

    Employment and incomes how about those two measures? The markets about those measures? Low to no inflation. Right at 3% growth after a 10 period of growth and full employment across the board, hard to grow the economy when you don't have bodies to fill new jobs and we had a glut of new jobs.

    Yep! Now, everybody who's a 'player' in the stock market casinos is "too big to fail" and deserves to be "rescued" with bailouts and ZERO-interest loans -- forever and ever. People who responsibly put money aside in savings accounts get screwed to death, and NOBODY cares -- not Republicans, and not even Democrats. Republican focus is on the rich and the 'wanna-be's'. Democrats focus on the masses of poor-and-poorer 'cattle' who anxiously trade votes for welfare and 'subsidy' programs. We're going RIGHT STRAIGHT DOWN!

    You understand of course that the global financial crisis was blamed on people who were forced
    to handle toxic debt. The debt came from Clinton's great gambit that poor people could own their
    own homes. Greenspan called it the noble experiment, or some such term. When it failed they just
    blame bankers and financiers.

    The answer is country before profit. Personally, I'd be happy just taking their citizenship and patents. That which the government giveth (patents, trademarks and incorporation), the government can taketh away...

    Read a story about an East German family who had a jam factory. They made
    jam for generations. The Communists came and stole the factory from them.
    Who then made the jam? The Communists. So people had to eat Communist
    jam. If you didn't like it then too bad. There were no market signals that your
    jam is bad - you queue up for it, and be thankful for what you got.

    In the USSR there was this proverb that because candy can come in a lovely
    wrapper doesn't mean it's rotten. Imagine any Western Capitalist company making
    rotten candy. That would be the end of them because in the West the commoners,
    the people, the workers, the poor, the consumers - THEY decide.

    And also, the country benefits. Look what the Communists have done to ANY country
    they seized.

    So you would begin the path to the Chinese system. Socialism is a slippery slope, and at the bottom lies communism.

    I'm not sure what you mean. Could you be more specific about the meaning of "system"? Ideology? Strategy? Methods of work? Type of political system? Economy?

    I'm convinced that no one on the left even knows what fascism is. What about capitalism gives you the sense of government control? If anything, the markets have too much control over government rather than the opposite. Ask yourself which side of our political spectrum is currently more authoritarian and you'll realize its yours.

    Can you deny that in a thread advocating government seizure of property?

    No, its being withheld by anticompetitive legislation. The entire political system, that is paid for by corporate donation, is now set up to do nothing but inflate the cost of entry into the market.

    I absolutely agree with this. Here's some perspective though, the left advocates for a $15 minimum wage and higher tax rates, both things are very anti-competitive. Do you believe Walmart or Amazon care what these rates are so long as they own the market share? How about Bob's supermarket?

    Does that mean that it's bad for people to get paid more for their labor or for the government to tax corporations? There are legitimate reasons for most of the legislation passed (Kennedy Center and that kinda crap excepted) and despite corporate interference, I believe that most of our politicians on both sides have the best interests of their constituents at heart. The problem, in my view, is in the party system we have where individuals are compelled to vote along party lines or risk losing their position. This is usually more evident in whichever party is in the minority, but is certainly not limited to one party or the other. Term limits would help.

    False
    The free market system is still in place and will rebound.
    Unsupportable nonsense.

    What is being withheld by what legislation and be specific. What market? Start your own business, come up with an idea. There's hundreds of entrepreneurs starting businesses every day, when we aren't under a government shutdown. Under what other economic system can you more easily enter the market, what country?

    Commies have a proven track record for failure. Who wants:

    1. A car designed and manufactured by the government;

    2. A washing machine, dishwasher, or refrigerator designed and produced by the government;

    3. Entertainment controlled by the government;

    4. News controlled by the government;

    5. Housing built and controlled by the government (like how many liberals here would want to live in a housing project);

    6. Food grown by the government;

    7. Gulags for thought crime.

    The capitalist systems responds to market demand. The commie system is the result of 5 year planning performed by political hacks. I

    In post Mao China a refrigerator (for example) produced by the government cost several years salary for most people and did not work.

    The fact is most of the commies posting here are personal failures in life. Anyone who cannot make it in the US where companies often are begging for quality employees is a personal failure. I know of a large company near where I live that cannot fill good paying jobs because people can't pass drug tests.

    I believe many of the resident commies here posting here are living in their parents basement. Others are academics who have never had a real job.

    It should be noted the the corporations that commies and liberals bash on an ongoing basis produce the goods and services that people want and demand. Well left wingers, feel free to create coops, or whatever, and provide goods and services without a profit. Talk is cheap. How about some action from you people.
