This is the third day in a row.

Sometimes I wonder if my fellow Brits are really trying :-(

The UK covid deaths are only those who die in hospital having been tested for the virus - even then some deaths aren't reported till a few days later. Generally the deaths in care homes and at home where people have not been tested are not included in the statistics. Even in hospital it can vary. I heard a Dr the other day say that they had had 20 deaths from Covid-19 but they had had another 60 who certainly appeared to have died from it by symptoms but as they had not been tested they were not included - probably that is what Drs were going on about a week or so when they complained that the UK was underreporting deaths.

You will notice the admitted number is up today. ;)

    It is too.
I have been trying to calculate when this bug will burn itself out, but having the oldies keeling over with extra enthusiasm is hardly helping matters

Well they are not in the official number. Scotland is now keeping account of those who have died without a test but whom it looks like Covid-19 was responsible. They are more of them than the official number and according to Nicola almost certainly a more honest number.

In the meantime our official deaths are up again to 936- our biggest ever number and research is suggesting that the UK will be the hardest hit with deaths in Europe due to the Herd immunity original path

Arguably Sweden may be worse 'per capita'. I said that.

If Boris Johnson comes out alive from intensive care, he will be the living example of herd immunity by practising what he preached. But it is still a far cry from a large percentage of the population becoming immune to the coronavirus. It requires an effective vaccine to develop herd immunity.

I believe it is the first time a Government has thought that their country should go for mass infection from a virus which was so serious a vaccine was needed.

Of course the other issue is that in tests in China on people who had recovered 1/3rd did not show signs of having built up antibodies for immunity. If I remember correctly (from somewhere other than link) it was among the younger people that immunity did not appear to be being built up though they are looking at the possibility that they may have been provided with immunity by some other route for example T Cells.

This virus would appear to still have a few tricks up its sleeve.

I've always thought this thread was dumb, too soon etc...

Now, after 2 days of a fall in the deaths from this, I can finally feel right posting in here.

London, you know it, I know it, ahead of the country in so many ways.
What was normal for me 2 weeks ago, I see people bitching about now
    'somebody coughed on me'
'there were people coughing at the Tesco/Asda/Sainsburys'
    http://www.politicalforum.com/index...eezing-i-went-down-to-the-supermarket.570733/

I can only hope that London's already peaked; but today the country as a whole, has reported 697 deaths from Covid-19, on Saturday 917, on Sunday, 710.
    https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/breaking-coronavirus-daily-deaths-uk-21858712

You better believe I'm paying attention to these numbers; and I thought it was in poor taste to have this thread so soon.
I can only hope that London is still 2 weeks ahead, because I've been hearing the same thing for 3 weeks now '2 weeks to the peak, 2 weeks to the peak, 2 weeks to the peak'
This week they're still saying 2 weeks to the peak!
I want clarity for what applies to London (are we 2 weeks ahead)? and what applies to the rest of the country, because I'm hearing the same thing I heard 2 weeks ago and it's a bit confusing when people say London's 2 weeks ahead of the country and in 2 weeks time (now) - I can only hope that what I've been hearing applies to elsewhere in the UK, because I'm about done hearing we're always 2 weeks from a peak because I've been hearing that for a month now (here in London).

TBH, last time I went out last week Tuesday, nobody was out coughing, not like how it was before with people coughing in the queues to get into Tesco, didn't have none of that last week, on me, in London; IDK about the rest of the country; I noticed ppl in the UK started to moan about people coughing like it's a new thing and by that time, I noticed that aspect of it was over with where I live and more people were wearing masks and nobody was coughing, having been and done that whole seeing people out coughing time after time about 2 to 3 weeks ago (for me).
