"Drop the Curtain on the Trump Follies"

"Why does the nation need to be subjected to the president’s daily carnival of misinformation, preening and political venom?"

"Early on, Mr. Trump discovered that he could use the briefings to satisfy his need for everything to be all about him. As the death toll rises, that imperative has not changed. Most nights, he comes before an uneasy public, typically for an hour or more, to spew a thick fog of self-congratulation, political attacks, misinformation and nonsense."

"Mr. Trump typically starts by reading a somber statement that he seems to have never seen before. Next come remarks from other administration officials or corporate executives involved in the relief effort, generally laden with praise for the president’s peerless leadership. Vice President Mike Pence is particularly gifted at this."

"After the testimonials comes the Q. and A., which is where the president lets his id off the leash. His constant goal seems to be to stress that he is in no way responsible for this nightmare — including any glitches in his administration’s response. All failures he assigns to past administrations, Democrats, governors, the media and so on."

"If the cameras were taken away, perhaps Mr. Trump would worry less about putting on a show. Better still, perhaps he would leave the briefings to the officials who have useful information to impart."

"In using his platform to mislead the public, the president is not serving any interest but his own. In facilitating this farce, neither is the media."

    https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/07/o...gtype=Homepage

This fact was never more obvious than just yesterday, as it seemingly is everyday, when the President again got caught in numerous fabrications when Americans are looking for facts and information (https://apnews.com/9f7c772caa4b72f82f0ed54045af45c4)

It seems nothing would be lost by pulling the plug on these briefings

Sounds like you aren't watching anyway.

I am, and if channel A doesnt carry it, then I just switch to channel B. you are under no obligation to be informed during a pandemic, sounds like you have a handle on things.

Now if you want to take survivor, the bachelor, real housewives off the air I'm 100% behind you.

    Let's do it!

If Democrats, the MSM, and China thought the briefings made trump look bad, they would be broadcast 24/7

If the briefings make trump look good, Democrats, the msm, and their Chinese masters would want them censored.

    Simple as that.

If Trump ended the briefings liberals would say he doesn't care.

Since the death estimates have dropped it seems liberals are losing interest fast...

Is that why is poll numbers are dropping? Because he looks sooo good?
His ‘rally around the flag’ spike is about completely gone.
He went from approval in the 60’s regarding the virus to approval in the 40’s.

Interesting strategy, maybe he needs to get My Heroin Addict Pillow Man back at the podium some more to say trump was sent by god or talk about his facebook or TV ratings.

Absolutely, he should be on everyday, keeping everyone up-to-date on what is going on and what to expect, that is his job.

You've been misinformed, you are not legally obligated to watch them, they are not part of one's mandatory quarantine responsibilities in any state of the union, you will not be punished, prosecuted or penalized for not watching them. They are completely optional and watching reruns of Cuomo press briefs during Trump's events is allowed.

Jeez... libs... so clueless, so easily fooled. Sad.

Have there been any polls done more recently than that one done three weeks ago?

It was indeed — it isn’t any longer.
His approval is what is dropping like a brick now.

Why do Democrats want to censor his briefings?

Seems like they would want them broadcast to show how horrible trump is.

Sounds like Chinese propaganda to me.

Anyone paying attention knows that if democrats were in power they would have never stopped travel from China and the virus would be much worse

I have never seen a single speech, brief, or tweet. If you find yourself unable to avoid Trump, blame your parents, not the media.

Coronavirus May Kill 100,000 to 240,000 in U.S. Despite Actions, Officials Say

The New York Times doom and gloom prediction article from 9 days ago.

US coronavirus death toll prediction drops over 25% to 60,000

    From the NY Post 04/08/2020.

    https://www.nytimes.com/

Here is the NY Times breaking news today, I see nothing about the drop in the death toll predictions. They were quick to predict a death toll of "100,000 to 240,000 in U.S.". But when the prediction drops, all we get from them is crickets. No wonder in the 10 years before 2018 their circulation was 1.03 million, they dropped to 487 thousand in 2018. It appears they need sensationalist articles to sell their papers, no place in there for good news I guess.

No, I actually do watch, for about ten minutes, when the boasting begins, I'm out
And no problem, Fox will always cover them, and if one wants to be informed those briefings are the last place anyone would look

It is also a fact that democrats aid and abet foreign nationals sneaking into the country and provide them with sanctuary

Not true, why should the networks waste time showing nothing, besides, no one is recommending censoring them, rather questioning the need to show them as all

Oh no, the briefings pretty much show he doesn't care, that is why they are largely just a self promoting vehicle

But that is the point, he isn't doing his job, keeping everyone up to date, rather, he is out there promoting himself dictating fabrications instead of information

No one said censor, rather, don't bother showing them, they aren't helpful Fox will always pick them up, that's enough
