So NYC had the foresight to at least try to prepare itself for a potential pandemic, but sold off their ventilators because they couldn't afford to maintain them. Not being able to afford maintaining the equipment that would keep New Yorkers alive during the next predicted pandemic is odd since NYC seems to have enough money to dole out benefits to illegals and provide them lawyers to help them avoid deportation. Then there's the $850 million de Blasio's wife was in charge of which seems to have vanished into thin air. I find this lacking of money extremely troubling since the city has a budget of 94.4 billion. That's not a typo. And de Blasio has the juevos to blame Trump for the city's lack of preparation.
APPARENTLY MASSIVE CUTS IN FEDERAL FUNDING UNDER OBAMA WERE THE CULPRIT: How New York City’s Emergency Ventilator Stockpile Ended Up on the Auction Bloc. They, of course, had the choice to spend their own money on them.
They auctioned off broken ventilators over five years ago — meaning the machines would likely be a decade old at this point. Most manufacturers recommend preventive maintenance every six months. Batteries replaced every two years. Oxygen sensors, fans, and circuitry replaced every two - three years. Major overhaul at five years. Replacement at seven years. https://theelectricsquirrel.wordpress.com/category/ventilator-testing/ http://bmea2z.blogspot.com/2016/08/preventive-maintenance-of-ventilator.html So you would prefer they hold onto non functioning and defective equipment?
I would prefer NYC spend a small amount of their $94.4 billion on maintaining equipment which would be needed when they're own predicted pandemic hit.
