Should the President's daily briefs be covered by the media?

Yes, they pretty much parrot the Chinese Communist line.

Beijing lied about the pandemic while it hoarded world pandemic supplies. Now it hails itself for selling -- at times -- faulty protective gear amid the global coronavirus pandemic, while Taiwan has been giving it away for free.

"The European Union thanks Taiwan for its donation of 5.6 million masks to help fight the coronavirus," she tweeted. "We really appreciate this gesture of solidarity. This global virus outbreak requires international solidarity & cooperation." she tweeted after Taiwan announced it would help with the supply shortage as part of its "Taiwan can help" campaign.

Last week, Taiwan announced it would send 10 million face masks to countries around the world and pledged future donations as it ramps up production.

Two million masks will go to the United States and eight million others will be sent to Europe, including some of the hardest-hit countries like Spain, Italy and France, Taiwan's foreign ministry said. Another million will be sent to Taiwan's 15 diplomatic allies in Central America, the Caribbean and the Pacific Islands.

"Over the past months, we have seen countless acts of bravery and sacrifice from medical workers around the world," Taiwan's President Tsai Ing-wen recently said. "We need to step up cooperation and that means sharing experiences and materials, and working together to develop treatments and vaccines."​

Despite a massive campaign by Beijing to paint President Xi Jinping and the Communist Party in a positive light, China's initial decision to downplay its coronavirus numbers as well as multiple shifts in its timeline has come back to haunt them and the rest of the world.

"There's simply no question that China's lack of candor to the world impacted the way the world was able to respond," Vice President Mike Pence said last week.​

Every day at 6:00 when I tune to the daily briefing, I get the feeling that I'm watching a repeat of Bill Murray in Groundhog Day. I can't tell the difference between one day or the next. They're all the same. They should cut them to weekly, daily is too much of nothing.

Folks will simply switch to a network that is showing the briefings. The left nut media has whipped this into the fever pitch it is, now when The White House wants to keep people informed on a daily basis they want to cut it off. Please do because the networks carrying the briefings will get the ratings and the ones that don't will lose viewers that will eventually become permanent.

Trump is NOT the typical Republican President where the media can kick him the proverbial shins a few times and he will grovel. The left set the media stage with 24/7 virus coverage, now that Trump gets part of that stage on a daily basis he gets to fight back in public. It's why he was elected and why he will be re-elected, your best candidate is a doddering old fool who doesn't know what state he's in. Good luck in November.

Government briefings are covered by the media in every single country.... except America... the Main stream media do not need information... they make up their own facts

 

That is the point, Trump isn't "keeping people informed," tell us, how does saying his daughter has created millions of jobs, a pure fabrication, "keep people informed?" And currently, the Networks don't carry the entire briefings, plus people always have Fox if they want to see Trump bloviate on himself

And why would a President have to "fight back" if he is supposedly delivering information to the American people in a time of crisis?

You do realize the initial NY Times article you posted is citing Dr. Anthony S. Fauci and the second NY Post article is relaying an updated University of Washington model, don't you? Why would the NY Times publish a new article based on a completely different and less credible source than the original prediction?

I appreciate the dems are hating the fact that the president has been able to lead the nation through this. Especially when their nominee is Biden, and frankly looks horrible in all this.

but the American people deserve transparent govt. we aren’t Biden’s China. We need the president and his team of experts informing the people instead of CNN, MSNBC and the dnc misleading Americans on the facts

 

The presidents daily briefings have helped America by a lot, giving people hope and excellent information. If media doesn’t want to show it then who cares, there will always be someone in the media showing it. Plus the ratings are through the roof, because of how great the information is.

I am home for 7 days because I was sick. That briefing is carried on every single broadcast network and tons od cable networks. Dude it's a PR triumph. The left media ginned up the fear of this virus and now Trump is on air every day. He fights back at the ignorant left wing reporters attempting to spin things, everybody at home see this. As long as he's in front to the TV camera's he's winning votes.

 

Yes they should..... I think the better question is should the president and these governors have daily conferences to say the same thing they said the day before. Doesn't once a week sound like a better idea?

Last I heard, which was on Sat. The death toll was holding at 11,000. That is bad, but it's a far cry from the 100-240K
