They are the foundation of modern science. Without them, real science could not continue.

Read the title of this thread, and then have a global warmer tell you just exactly what should the earth temp be!! Oh and have them tell you how they know that.

Yes, I do. And I've already provided you with the reasoning behind my position. Do you disagree with me about how ozone is formed?

They can't even measure Earth's temperature, let alone tell us what it "should be".

Government agencies are not science, nor are they referring to science.

    Yes.

Yes. Universities are not science either.

NASA is a government agency, dude. You are being redundant.

My own ability to reason instead of simply parroting back what I am told.

Which parts of my lengthy explanation did you disagree with, and why?

They are recipients of grants that look for certain outcomes. In universities now if you don’t toe the dogma line you will not advance. That is not science.

No they aren't. Science exists separate from universities. All that is required is an initial theory and the ability to falsify it via internal/external testing.

Scientists are not measuring the earth's temperatures, they have been measuring the bodies of water that makes up 2/3 of the earth. It is the water that is obsorbing the heat which is how the planet maintains the earth's temperature. The ocean's cold currents are warming up due to the over saturation of heat so they are at a point where they no longer are able to control earth's temperatures. The warmer waters increases the chances of severe weather and it also is melting the glaciers from underneath.

Yet parroting is what you are doing. It has often occured to me, that if conservatives spent as much time studying science rather than following conspiracy theories, that they would be the smart party, instead of what it is.

Science only exists because of education and universities are the hub of their genesis. Anyone that doesn't get that simply means, they don’t know science.

Let’s see, even all major corporations, all government facilities Agee. Now, jokester trump minions, they’ve got their five buddies at the bar....must be their fabulous ability to use common sense.

I disagree that just because you read some eight grade version of how an ozone layer is formed, it makes you smarter then MIT and NASA as to how it’s damaged. Funny . Still no reference.

No, I am forming arguments. You are the one parroting and denying science. Inversion Fallacy.

How does one parrot and deny something at the same time?

If you are forming arguments based on your mistaken beliefs, are you not committing a fallacy?

Which might be interesting if they had any reliable ocean temp data from the past to compare it with, but the ARGO project only began deployment in 2K.

Ah, projection from the party that rejects the science of two sexes.

There are more than two sexes. That is why national polls repeatedly show that most liberal women would refuse to date a man who holds strong conservative beliefs. There are conservative men, and then there are manly liberal men.

Ever notice that all the heart throbs tend to lean liberal, while the most famous conservative men tend to have a rather ugliness about them. It may be that beauty inspires empathy, something that liberals have in abundance.

Me unaware of reality ? I agree with science practiced at every major institution in the world, and not from Trump and the three stooges ? I’ve yet to hear any reference other then ....”I’m smart. “

So, your ability to reason in science is far superior to that practiced by EVERY scientists at every major institution in the world ? And, you can’t produce any evidence or reference of scientistS at any institution in the entire world, who agrees with you ?
Sounds like the definition of “ inversion fallacy”, whatever that is.

I’ve heard no argument. Just an eight grade version of how it was formed. Now, tell us why MIT and every other research facility is wrong on how the ozone layer is damaged.

The inversion fallacy is assuming that if A always equal B, then B always equals A.

An example of someone clearing up an inversion fallacy is when John Stuart Mill said that he didn't mean to say that all conservatives were stupid, but rather that stupid people join the conservative party. Just as today, there are plenty of highly intelligent individuals on both sides of the aisle. It is just that there are a great deal more on the Left.

Not long ago I saw a clip of Trump in front of reporters. When asked what experts he was listening to, Trump, the president of low expectations, pointed to the side of his head.

Trump could win with the economic argument. After all he won with 60 million votes, and only a bit over 50 thousand have died, a small drop in the bucket, especially when one considers the demographics of those most affected in places like New York and Michigan weren't likeky to vote Republican anyhow.

But we will see, won't we? Some states are lifting restrictions, others are keeping them in place.

Somehow I get the feeling that we are in the begining stages of a new normal. Perhaps the age old tradition of eating and drinking establishments will need to reinvent themselves. I'm pretty sure that face masks are here to stay, and possibly permanent social distancing rules for grocery and other stores.

And there you have, in print, for posterity.

From a member of the group who feels everybody should accept other people regardless of any characteristics, judging others by something so shallow as physical attributes.

    Well done!

Is this not a thread full of conservatives expressing alternate science theories? What do you mean, something as shallow as physical attributes? Healthiness of mind and body are physical attributes. As are strength and speed. In the law of the jungle, it is liberals who have the advantage. Faster, stronger, smarter, more creative, a great sense of humor. All with a million dollar smile upon a face that is easy on the eyes.
