I believe that since this is an opinion piece of an opinion of Gen. James Mattis this in my opinion fits better here than in Current Events.
Mattis a man who served our country in a great way and is absolutely respected by the troops from the lowest private, airman, seaman, or Marine has done our country a great service by warning us that Trump as a threat to our Constitution.

I may add that Trump is a threat to our country.

Anyone else agree that we need to listen to that GREAT AMERICAN Gen. Mattis?

I mean his comments are demonstrably false. There are at least 5,000 instances of trump talking about Americans of all colors and creeds unifying as Americans. It’s in literally almost every speech he’s ever made.

There’s clear evidence he cares about minorities as he has fought incredibly hard to turn around their unemployment numbers and he’s done things like criminal justice reform that frauds like Obama only talked about doing.

This is the Pentagon speaking out. If no one has noticed Esper tucked-tail and ran back to the Pentagon today.

Yeah. I agree with Mattis and the Pentagon, and apparently now Esper. The use of our military on our soil against our citizens is plainly insane.

Was it insane when Clinton did it in 92? And might I point out that was just one city.

Dirty Donnie has no concept of Equal Justice Under Law. He has divided the country along as many lines as possible in an attempt to perpetuate his sick power trip.
He figures if he divided his opposition enough, his base of racists, bigots and ignorants will sustain him.

No he's not a threat. He may have no choice but to use the military. I don't like it but things are spiraling out of control.

Is that why he signed criminal justice reform? Cause he wants unequal justice for blacks?

Do tell. What aspects of the "criminal justice reform" he signed are going to provide blacks with equal justice ?

And when will this take effect ? While police are killing more blacks in custody ?

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Step_Act

Which resulted in the release of thousands of nonviolent inmates, the majority of whom were black.

Btw, ~1,000 black people have been killed by the police since 2015. Care to guess how many people have been killed by black males in that same time period?

Interesting how quickly anyone becomes a great American in the eyes of the left the minute they denounce Trump. No need to question motives, no need to wonder why they denounced Trump. It is enough that he, she, or it denounced Trump. And they have the cast iron gall to claim that we are deifying Trump. It would almost be funny were it not so obvious a case of deflection as was the whole Russian hoax/delusion narrative.

Why then has Mattis denounce Trump? Not for the reasons stated I'm sure. It is almost certainly more to do with the very different foreign policy views he has with Trump. The slow draw down of Troops in Afghanistan being chief among them.

Trump did not in any way "fight" to turn around "their " unemployment numbers. Unemployment numbers started to drop in the latter part of 2009 and started a slow but steady decline the rest of the Obama years and CONTINUED to decline during the three Trump years. Key facts unemployment numbers CONTINUED to decline. Since our country is a multi racial multi ethnic country it stands to reason that every race and ethnic group's unemployment got slowly better over the last 11-12 years. It got better for EVERYONE right?
So do you have any facts that proove that minority unemployment improved at a higher rate than non minority people's?? You should if you contend that Trump "fought hard" to turn around their unemployment nembers. Show me if unemployment numbers improved for minorities at a higher rate than the rate for all Americans. Now it they did show me which years that was. Was it during the Trump years?

How many years has Trump been POTUS? Answer three 1/2years. How many years was Obama POTUS ? 8 years. So conclusion is unemployment numbers improved during more years under Obama than under Trump.

So you claim that Gen Mattis lied! About Trump "uniting" Americans. How? By asking " where is my Afro -American" at his rallies? Was it by blaming the Cirono Virus on Blue state governors? Was it by accusing. "Dems" of trying to bring him down ? Was it by threatening to cut off federal funds from Democratically run states? Was it by tweeting dumb stupid arsed crap such as "MAGA LOVES AFRO-Americans"? I do not know how a bumper sticker slogan can love any person, thing, or group of people. Was when he said that " Mexicans rape, murder, bring drugs " into our country? Was when he said "maybe done are good people". ?
Was it when Trump said that White Supremacists / KKK have good people in their ranks?

The criminal reform bill of Dec 2018 was proposed by and passed by Congress. Trump signed as he would any bill that was veto proof. He does not get credit for something that he did not ask Congress for.

Mattis is correct Trump attacked our Constitution by trying to use the 1807 insurrection bill to illegally send Federal troops to threaten American citizens. Federal troops are not to be used to police American citizens.

Well it's an asinine excuse to say that it's OK for police to kill black American Citizens "A" because black citizen "G" killed someone else.
Each case needs to be determined on it's own merit - not as payback for something else.

Clinton was not POTUS in 92 so you need to go and find yourself another false accusation. Or you need to find something that Clinton did that was shown to be unConstitutional.

Trump claimed he only hires "the best" people, so weren't they the best when he hired them, or did they become bad while working for Trump? What's the common denominator on "the best" people hired by Trump and then who either left the administration or had to be fired? Trump.

Mattis is a piece of garbage. His little ego got all butt hurt since the Commander in Chief....which is not mr butt hurt mattis....said we're getting the hell out of that worthless shithole Syria. Mattis is just mad he couldn't get a big pile of military kickbacks like John McCain did in all these foreign military excursions. That man is trash and is crying like a 15 year old girl. He just needs to slither away and shut the hell up.

If Mattis hadn't been fired, he'd have us spending billions and billions fighting a worthless war getting our soldiers killed in the process so he could get his rocks off and get his kickbacks. I repeat again, he is a piece of garbage.

Finally someone of high credibility and stature has spoken out against a tyrant who has damaged our Constitution hense our freedoms and hurt the future of our country. Trump has put our country's future in jeopardy.
He has put my grandkids in jeopardy and has put my grandkids in the difficult position to fix the country that he has broken.

Mattis has credibility to speak out about Trump because he was in the Trump Administration for two years before Trump orced him to resign.

Even Mark Espar the Secretary of State says that this is not the conditions to use military force in our states. So no at this time the state governors are handling things and Trump is just causing division and hatred.
