Autopsy report shows George Floyd had tested positive for COVID-19 - The Boston Globe another link here Hmm, meth, fentanyl, and on top of that, covid-19 !!! Probably not good the lungs... So there appear to be MULTIPLE confounding factors why this man could have had extra trouble breathing, when the cops applied some pressure.
Taken altogether, it's a HUGE mitigating factor. Maybe not, but the point is he likely wouldn't have died if it was not for the illegal drugs in his system and the fact we now know he had covid-19. That rendered him extra-susceptible, more than a normal person would. The police officers could not have known this. With meth and fentanyl in his system, and him having covid-19, in retrospect it's not that surprising he may have had trouble breathing, and then that this could have led to cardiopulmonary arrest and his death.
Really? I suppose that holding a pillow over a sick persons face would also not be murder? I saw that video and there is no doubt in my mind that what that officer did was hugely dangerous even to the fittest person on the planet. It actually does not take a lot of force to disrupt the trachea (windpipe)
That does seem to be the narrative of Republicans now, they were going to die anyway, eventually. Old people, black people, brown people, people with preexisting conditions, people with viruses... *Except when it comes to a bundle of unformed cells, then life is sacred*
I don't believe thats what kaz is saying. It begs the question that had it not been for all these preexisting health conditions would the application of knee to neck still produced a death. This will be very important as the DA is now over-reaching.
You should probably put your broad brush away, this Republican called it murder from day one and my position has not changed an iota.
If I shoot you but you don’t die and due to an — unknown to you — preexisting condition, you have a heart attack on the way to the hospital and die — should I be charged with murder? Or just given an assault charge?
OK, you want to play that game? I can broad brush the worst of the left onto you. But I will leave such things to you. I take everyone as an individual. Give em a chance to be all they can be. A novel and foreign idea, no doubt. But you can try it!
Shrug, that happens daily to me here. I do also, which is why I didn’t direct quote you and accuse you of anything — it was a general statement. All rules have exceptions. You decided to drag yourself in.
It begs the question that had it not been for all these preexisting health conditions would the application of pillow to face still produced a death.
Application of knee to the neck with enough pressure is roughly equivalent to hanging someone. Now there have been those who have famously survived hanging but not that many. https://edition.cnn.com/2020/05/28/us/george-floyd-knee-to-neck-excessive-force-trnd/index.html
Don’t waste your time on this hysterical tripe. They’re desperate to distract from their imploding orange dotard.
Uhmmm...no. Just pointed out you need to put your broadbrush away. A strawman is bad enough, much less a group strawman.
No it isn't. "Egg Shell" rule. The defendants plaintiffs are guilty for all harm from the defendant's negligence, even though their injuries are more serious than they would otherwise have been because of pre-existing physical or nervous conditions. Hope:
Detainees always claim they "can't breathe", but guess what? If you can talk, you can breathe. A knee on the neck would cut off blood circulation like a "sleeper" arm hold. Lights out.....
….and I am tired of the "no justice, no peace" mantra B.S The police officer was fired, then arrested for murder....HOW IS THAT NOT JUSTICE???
I don’t care what underlying conditions Floyd had, or what the actual cause of death is. There was no reason to pin him to the ground for that long. It was demeaning, degrading, and un necessary. He was cuffed, and there were plenty of cops there to get things under control. If leg restraints were needed, fine, get them on him and get him in the car and on the way to jail.
Felony assault, as it can't be predetermined(unless you left a note or shouted or something) that you intended to kill me. While your actions contributed to my death, it would be manslaughter. In other words, the officer was already looking at least 10 years in prison, but then Ellison had to up the ante for the "crowd". Now with the full autopsy released, upping the ante is a significant gambit, one that could replay Zimmerman in the worst case scenario.
