I completely support eliminating police in every major liberal city. It’s what they want. Let them have it. The attitude trends against police anyway. Last year they were throwing water at cops in New York.
Let these savages live under some real tyranny for a while. Dead serious.

 

Yes, I support “defunding” which actually means reallocation of resources.

As far as police departments go we should not have the expectation our officers can wear fourteen different hats and competently provide public safety. It’s a silly notion on it’s face.

“Defunding” is simply reimagining “public safety”: specialization, expediency, efficiency.

Think about it, do we really need an officer geared-to-the-nines and utilizing a cruiser to drive to a home to fill out a stolen property report?

“Defunding” is an incredibly in-artful term to describe the issue. And as it is with politics the term is being exploited to create fear. OMG we’ll have no public safety apparatus.

True fiscal conservatives should be perfectly aligned with this train, jumping on, and riding it through to implementation. These in-your-face opportunities don’t come along often.

Liberals out in the LA area have guarded private communities, so why can't we? Not just doorknob-rattlers carrying nightsticks, but the real armed deal. I could take a photo of a cop pulling a thing OUT of the tire, and it looks just as this one does. Any news photographer and most reporters know it's how you frame a photo (or a story for that matter). A crowd of ten becomes a mob and a mob becomes peaceful protestors and not trash worth mopping up forthwith.

 

I suppose you are free to believe what you want. The police admitted it and there is video of them doing it, but I understand you won't believe it unless Hannity tells you it happened.

Yes, We Mean Literally Abolish the Police

Why on earth would we think the same reforms would work now? We need to change our demands. The surest way of reducing police violence is to reduce the power of the police, by cutting budgets and the number of officers.

 

Do you think Arbery's murderers were justified? If so, that's all the context that is needed for you.

 

I don't think any rational person would want to eliminate the police and this is not the objective of the defund movement.

I would support some defunding - but only in the case where this was coupled with repealing bad law/legislation.
Ending the war on Pot would immediately turn 12% of the population .. some 40 million people - into non criminals. Hard to justify the huge budgets spent on the pot war - chasing after those 40 million people - when they are no longer criminals.

Getting rid of asset forfeiture going to the police in any way - would be partial defunding.

 

I am in favor of restructuring any police department who does not serve the public. If that means defunding departments that do more harm than good, so be it.

 

How about the SVU departments that investigate rapes and sexual assault? How about the crime labs that process all the forensic evidence and rape kits?

I’m all for those detectives and others who are called in to investigate reported crimes and arrest those that are guilty. I have many friends who are active duty and retired policemen. I have never referred to them as fascist pig bastards. There is definitely a need for a police force however some constructive changes would make these departments more effective and more efficient. Most of these routine encounters that turn into deadly situations, physical altercations or unnecessary arrests could be eliminated by redefining the duties of traffic officers and those who patrol the streets and highways.
