If you knew every ancestor going back 600 years and spoke their language fluentely what possibile significant effect would it have your ability to live a very nice life in a very great country. Of course it happened, but it wasn't a widespread practice, it was widely frowned upon, and it was kept hush hush when it happened.

Contrast that with the Arab slave trade where sexual abuse didn't just happen, it was THE ENTIRE POINT of the largest portion of the enterprise. Not only was sexual abuse not a dirty little secret, it was actually a matter of great pride. The number of concubines(sex slaves) in a potentate's harem was a status symbol to be loudly bragged about. We're not talking 10 or 20 here, we're talking harems of thousands of sex slaves, literally thousands.

And let's not even get into the eunuch slaves that were castrated, and then tasked with protecting the harems of sex slaves, cuz that's a whole other horror show.

You'll notice that there are many, many pure-blood negroes in America today, and that's because there wasn't all that much white-black interbreeding happening, and blacks were breeding regularly with other blacks.

You don't see large populations of negroes in the former-Arab-slave-trade countries today though, because blacks were not permitted to breed with blacks, and all the children of concubines would be interracial, and then those offspring would breed with Arabs, and so on and so on until the negro was eventually, for the most part, bred out.

The Arab slave trade involved millions of African slaves, but you see very few identifiable negroes in the Arab nations now, because not only were the African names, and culture, and history taken from the African slaves in the course of the Arab slave trade, the very DNA of the Africans was diluted to the point where it was basically washed out.

Now that goes WAY beyond losing one's name and culture, doesn't it?

My ancestors were people from West Africa who were enslaved and bought to Virginia to work in the tobacco fields. They were whipped, raped and degraded in ways I hate to even think about. They also lost their names (they were given new names, the same way you give a dog a name), lost their language(they were whipped if they spoke in their native tongue; it was English only), they lost their culture and their history.
Why do you have such a low opinion of your ancestors? Do you also have a low opinion of yourself?
