It certainly hurt my backstroke in that runup to the Channel thing. I was shattered, I tell you. Hugh Laurie Wooster shattered.

Left wingers are always screaming science when talking about global warming.

Well here is a real climate scientist, and he says the scare is BS. So-------

The statistic was actually every 3 years and the exceptions were one particularly low temperature one year and one particularly high temperature another.

But did you have a point? That was just an example. Obviously the temperature after the "coldest" 500 year period is going to go up. Otherwise it wouldn't be the coldest. But that's totally irrelevant to the AGW matter.

Yeah because the Global part of "Global Warming" means outside your window, right? Outside the window of places where they have increased forest fires, droughts, floods ... not so "peachy". Outside my window it's just really really hot for this time of year. But it doesn't really become noticeable until hurricane season here in Florida. Where I live we hadn't had a major hurricane since 1962. That changed in 2004 when we had three the same year running over my city. And then at least one every other year after that.

I'm pretty sure that yours, whatever that is, is likely wrong.

A spike in temperature is always a pretty safe prediction to make.

Who was that pudgy dope trying to sell sports cars and didn't know what gasoline was. I'm awful with names and THAT guy and the Nazi gang leader in his underwear were two highlights.

    It is most definitely true:

    http://notrickszone.com/2016/09/13/...ng-scientific-consensus/#sthash.7O4otojA.dpbs

The purported "debunking" of the global cooling consensus was a dishonest strawman exercise: the scientific consensus was not that the world was going to cool in the future, as claimed by the lying "debunkers," but that it HAD cooled between the 1940s and the 1970s. It is that actual cooling that has been made to disappear from the data.

    It's still not true.
No it isn't. The CO2 AGW hypothesis is based on assuming recent warming is not natural. But it obviously is natural, as it is a return to the Holocene normal.
    Anyone's window.
Are you so benighted you do not understand that inherent variability means there are ALWAYS going to be SOME places where there are increased forest fires, droughts, floods, etc.?
No it isn't. It's only about 5C above normal, perfectly within expected variations. Here, it's 5C below normal.

Yes, ideally we would like that. Tropical crops are a problem - many require temperate
conditions. Where I live in the Barossa Valley Aust we think we have another generation
before the wine industry is finished - getting too hot.
And in getting hot our state is getting dryer also.
Already we rely on "dry farming" but this is getting ridiculous.

The sad part is that in pre-history the earth's climate would change much more slowly,
and plants and animals could migrate. They can't really do that now due to humans.

Certain species are thriving like Jellyfish. Humans may have to adjust their diets but it's hardly the end of the world. Besides, we have the ability to farm raise any plant or creature on the planet not to mention the work done in genetically modifying foods for survival in harsher climates.

Sigh.. an ocean where there are no more Yellow Fin Tuna but plenty of jelly fish.
No more penguins but plenty of seagulls.

To me this WOULD be the end of the world.

I understand the concerns from the waste. And, as I have written here before, the refusal of certain quarters of the political elite to address responsible care of the depleted fuel I believe is a purely political one in favor of covering the land area with "sustainable" options. Neither are good solutions, and you're right, the dream of cold fusion would be better, but in a timeline that cannot ever be gauged for it's predictable application introduction, that seems more likely than not to curtail options that are available today. Leftists want to induce dependence. It is as simple as that. Sustainability is just another version of it. It looks awesome, but the reality of the land use requirements is usually never introduced as part of their discussion. And frankly, the amount of land that we're talking about to produce said available energy is staggering.

Oh! I see! You were just trying to draw me into the long ago defunct debate about whether AGW is real or not. I've clarified this many times. You see... I spent over 20 years debating AGW science. A science denier would just cut and paste pseudo-science from one of their many science denialist web-pages, It would take me a looong time to resear the real science, and when it became clear that what they had pasted was garbage, they just cut-and-paste a different pseudoscientific argument. For every two minutes it took them to cut and paste the argument, it sometimes took me 2 hours to research the facts. That went on and on.... and it was fun for a while. But now I'm done.

There has been a scientific consensus about AGW for about 20 years now. That part is over and done with. Now it's just about mitigation. How do we deal with it? That is the part we are still learning.

We don't need to convince anybody anymore. They had all this time to learn, but now the boat has sailed and all we need is for science deniers to get out of the way and let the adults in the room fix the mess.

    Thanks anyway....

Not quite true. We have known for decades, if not longer, that man has an influence which is most likely warming. What is not known is how much, what will be the future impact and what we can do about it. And there is no scientific consensus on those point specific points.

Wrong again. That's the prediction strawman graph. The consensus was that the earth HAD BEEN cooling, not that it WAS GOING to cool. Clear?
