    interesting!! Very interesting!

So the “whataboutism” has been shown to be hollow - admittedly this finding is somewhat counterintuitive on the surface

Yeah, The right keeps trying to tie them to increasing cases but they just can't get past New York and the rest of the Northeast that were slow to open.

There is simply no way that daily prolonged close contact didn't spread the virus. If that were the case then every beach, bar, and supermarket would be a safe haven. The fact is certain areas were just doing a better job in COVID mitigation to begin with, combined with the undoubted reality that most people are too scared to go out during a riot.

This is the sort of political duggery that the COVID pandemic does not need. OF COURSE mass protests spread the virus. Infections don't give a damn if you're out 'fighting the power' or just picking up some eggs. This nonsense is up there with the right and its anti-mask agenda. STOP IT!

So giant crowds with few mask and social dis. Nationwide, had nothing to do with it? Yeah...ok....sure.
And to think, you were critiquing my math...

Most of the protesters wore masks; not the case with people filling bars and beaches...the anti-mask crowd.

Actually, most wore masks. Go back and look at the video footage.

If mass protests haven't spread the virus there would be no need for social distancing, lock downs and/or masks. You absolutely cannot have it both ways. That's absurd.

Again, this type of study does nothing to determine covid cases. It's really saying that more people stayed away from the crowd. The question they need to answer is if people in the current wave of covid patients were protesters or not.

    Really simple stuff.

Or family/friends/acquaintances of the protesters. They dispersed far and wide.

Although this will be hard to answer in some regard as De blasio famously told contact tracers not to ask about the protests lol. We instead are led to believe tens of thousands of Americans went out drunk partying!

Yeah, I don't know about that doc ;)(remember Bugs bunny?)

Unless you believe the virus is a hoax there is NO way they could not have caused a spike.

The footage of looters I saw were of them carrying expensive clothes and big screen TVs. I saw none of them carrying masks and hand sanitizer.

Yes as people got shot and beaten to death in the streets, but most importantly they wore masks ..hahaha wow..just wow..

And no, there were MANY who didn't wear masks! It's completely asinine to believe the riots had nothing to do with spikes in cases!

Any guess as to why some of them wore masks? LOL

It wasn't to shield themselves from the virus.

That's great but we know mask usage is one key step in a sequence of protective measures; limited occupancy/crowds, social distancing, and trying our best to reduce trivial outings.

The other problem here, which is a greater problem by scale, is that splitting hairs like this is going to do so much harm in the fight of convincing people who don't want to wear masks and social distance that they need to get on board. How exactly can we go around saying things like 'well you cant sit in your Church because that spreads the virus but attending a race riot is a-ok'.

This is junk science. This is some loon slapping the word "study" or "research" onto a politically biased misrepresentation of the situation. Plus, its also not held in consensus as we just saw the ultra-liberal LA county DOH confirm they have observed a link between their spikes and the protesting/rioting.

I don't know, the first set of protests by the right did not wear masks, the second set of protests wore masks, I think they did have an effect
