The more relevant question is, "Do Texans have the will to get back on course?" The Dem Mayors and Abbott are on the same page. The advice hasn't changed in months. The course hasn't drastically changed. Peoples' behavior changed around Memorial Day and after.

Thank you. Citizens now have to figure out that masks don't work if you're crammed shoulder-to-shoulder with others in a mass crowd.

We've been through several iterations of the same argument. Nothing has change. Dead horse.

Homicide rates won't stop either. In fact, they are spiking, just like the virus.

:boo:~ Maybe the CDC will recommend we all wear two masks from now on - one over each opening. :bucktooth:

No, I never said that. You did. Part of what I said is that most people in urban areas of Texas have been wearing masks.

So? Is not following rules a concept you're not familiar with? I do find it amusing that you're wearing a mask.

And yet you keep putting the blame on "younger people".

Yes. I lean towards opinions based on research and real facts. Sorry if that's problematic for you.

It's problematic because you're being disingenuous. Yes, younger people are a contributing factor but not the sole factor. Therein lies the difference.

No, they aren't the only factor in the spike, just the major contributing factor, else they wouldn't make up most of the current headlines. The "third leg" of the Texas' spike, aside from bars+protesters, is the major hit to the border migrant towns. I'm really worried about the hospital capacity in border towns the most. Smaller population, but they started out with less hospital capacity. I'm hoping to hear something about some relief down there. Covid rise in the mostly-Hispanic smaller towns haven't really been making headlines the same way that young people+bars+protests have.

Well, maybe Abbott and residents of TX should have handled this better than they did. But here we are with your numbers going through the roof and as a result will likely f things up for the rest of us.

You mean after Cuomo and DiBlasio let the virus spread all over the country, you're afraid it might boomerang and hit them in the face?

Your governor is the one who is IN CHARGE of the ENTIRE STATE therefore it is his RESPONSIBILITY alone.

That he FAILED to do his job is entirely on his head!

You have effectively tried to blame everyone and everything else in order to give him a FREE PASS for effing up almost as badly as your Covidiot-in-Chief.

    Sad!

It was the RESPONSIBILITY of your governor, given the ABDICATION of responsibility by your Covidiot-in-Chief, to ENSURE that EVERYONE in Texas UNDERSTOOD and COMPLIED with the standard Pandemic Protocols and Prevention measures.

Obviously he has been an ABJECT FAILURE at carrying out his DUTIES in this regard.

This is a PANDEMIC, not a 4th of July picnic!

Lives are being LOST due to the INCOMPETENCE of your governor and your Covidiot-in-Chief.

Did you really BELIEVE that when the weather got hot the virus was going to just disappear?

I'm not blaming anyone, except for people who failed to do three things (all at the same time): social distance, wear a mask, avoid large gatherings. Anyone doing only 1 or 2 out of 3: It's their fault.

You said all that, except for the hot weather part. Heat and humidity discourages people from being motivated and/or consistent with wearing masks. You can see it in the protest photos. Almost everyone in cooler northern states were wearing masks. Many protesters in southern states were maskless. They failed to observe any of the 3 safe practices.

And likewise Texans don't give a rat's ass what liberal states think since they are the ones who brought the crap here.

It's a whole liberal plot to get conservatives sick. States like NY tricked people into traveling overseas and therefore having to fly into NY for a stop over. Muah, muah , muah...
You realize this is a virus that is easily spread and has spread throughout the world, right? NY can't help that about a hundred thousand people fly into JFK on a daily basis. Think early on that might of had something to do with the virus spreading?
That being said, the current surge of cases in TX are not the fault of "liberal" states.

True. Democrat Mayors in Texas cities didn't make enough of a point about staying home during a virus. They did try, but the people didn't listen. Also, it's not a liberal or conservative issue that people [many ex-pats] are pouring across the southern border, sick, to call an ambulance and go to border town hospitals for treatment because hospitals in Mexico really and truly can't provide treatment.

My favorite Texan is Ron Paul, and here is what he has to say about Texas going in the toilet.

To be clear, I think the Lt. Governor totally rocks. Any sitting politician willing to call out Tony the Gnome is a courageous man. :applause:
