Florida has 1/10 the deaths of NY

    The speculation is that we're better at treating it, and this latest group of infected people are a lot younger than the first wave. Nursing homes have gotten a lot better at keeping it out. Of course the worry is that the young people will eventually pass it on to the old people.

    It disputes the fact that Florida is anything like NY when it comes to population density. It's much more rural, by comparison. I'm not saying Florida IS rural, just when compared to NY. Does population density affect death rate? Probably not, but it probably affects how fast Covid moves into susceptible populations. Keeping yourself isolated in a single-dwelling house isn't hard. In an apartment building, it's more difficult.

    are you aware that NY is more than just NY NY? Are you aware that there are a lot of rural areas in NY ?

    Of course, but over 70% of the people who died in NY state died in NYC.

    Also, you are correct that the two states population density averages are very similar. I was wrong about that.

    Yes, I agree, and FL knew better than to send the sick to nursing homes like Cuomo did.

    That is the silver lining in all of this, outbreaks afflicting the Sun Belt states have proved much less deadly than what happened in New York.
