All too often, the mocking of the death of someone has heavy undertones of racial hatred. Nobodies death should be mocked.

Should we consider any form of mocking the death of someone as inciting hatred?

I think its important we protect this kind of speech - it shows the rest of us what kind of asshat they are.

lefties on here mocked the veteran that refused to wear a mask and died from corona, if that's allowed, then the post about race baiter john lewis should be allowed as well (I am pretty sure that's why you made this thread but I could be wrong)
Just remember, if the left can do it, so can the right. NOBODY should get special treatment.

I don’t think hate speech should exist. People should be free to mock whoever they want, alive or dead, with zero legal implications. No speech should be censored, no matter how terrible, whether it is nazis, BLM, ISIS, child molesters, or satanist. Free speech is free speech.

Now, as soon as speech turns to action, then there is a problem.

racial hatred is censored though and mocking deaths is heavily linked to racial hatred in most cases.

that is a good point, hiliary clinton comes to mind. still, its been getting out of hand lately and it is fanning the flames of hatred.

It shouldn’t be censored is my point. And mocking deaths definitely should not be censored.

yes but my point is IT IS CENSORED. we will not change that, all we can do is suggest other things that should be censored here. homophobia is censored, anti semitism etc etc. so is inciting hatred. isnt mocking the deaths of ppl inciting hatred?

I don't think so. It doesn't necessarily indicate hatred, just seriously bad manners.

Let's leave race out of it. Enough already!!! Mocking someone's death should not be censored or unlawful or inciting hatred. Of course it's bad manners but so is breaking wind in public.

it is flamebait though, which is against the rules is it not?

as for breaking wind, we should all feel comfortable in doing it whenever we please. its healthy, unlike mockery of dead ppl.

I agree with you...far too many of the threads on here wreak of racism and appear to be formed only to enforce and perpetuate racial tropes.

On the other hand, it also creates a very difficult situation for the moderators because no matter what they do, they will always be in the wrong to somebody. I do wish they would spell out in far greater detail what is and isn't acceptable as the current posting rules leave much to interpretation.

I don’t care if it is. We need to reduce what is censored, not increase it! People need to grow thicker skins, before the 1st amendment becomes a thing of the past. We need to fight to allow all forms of speech to be tolerated.

If someone was an asshat when they were alive, death does not magically change that and mean you should find nice things to say.

I understand your point but it part of being found guilty of a crime involves showing harm to the target. Intent would be clear, but a dead person cannot show harm and it would be a slippery slope (have people arrested for hurting somebody's feelings).

Well the hatred is already incited in the person with the problem.

What's the difference between mocking a live person, and mocking a dead person?

Did Timothy McVeigh suddenly become a saint when they served him a shot of dirt nap cocktail? I'm supposed to speak kindly of that garbage pile just because he's dead?

Screw that. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

You can piss on that white demon's grave all day long. See if I give a care.

It is and we must protect free speech. Once you start penalizing what someone thinks is hate speech there is no end and besides, which arrogant fool is the one to decide what is hate speech.
