Not having laws against slavery says nothing about the existence or amount of slavery. It is negative you can't prove.

Because you are hung up on slavery laws rather than slavery.

Geez dude, you just made that up, No where did I say making something a crime and against the law somehow magically prevents people from committing that crime. If I say the US has laws against murder, does that mean I think murder does not happen in the US?? Sex slavers do operate in the US.

Stop wasting my time with this silliness.

Back then, "all men" meant "all civilized males". This implicitly excludes primitive people and also women. Such a view was normal at that time.

Americans and other western peoples had to learn that this should better be read as: "all human beings have same dignity and rights". :)

Please name the southern Republicans who owned slaves. That would be a hugely useful link to support your ... ah ... contention.

No trolling, southern PEOPLE owned slaves, there were both republicans and democrats that did so. YOUR assertion that ONLY democrats owned slaves is trolling.

Which political group fought the hardest to maintain the continued existence of slavery as a legitimate institution?

The divide was based on geography, not politics.

Republicans wave that traitorous flag proudly claiming it's their "heritage." You are fooling nobody with this garbage.

Nah, they were liberals. Liberals are the ones who like putting people in different categories. That’s not a conservative thing.

I am neither Republican nor Democrat. On this issue, Republicans are extremely wrong.

Well Cotton thinks this but I don’t think this is the republican general view. That wasn’t even true 155 years ago.

Maybe Cotton has learned better than to do shots just before addressing the chamber.

And Andrew Jackson, founder of the first political party in America. He wasn't a Republican.

Nathan Bedford Thomas was no Confederate conservative. Your arguments would improve if you only did some reading real history and not leftist rubbish. As for the KKK, by the 1920s and the very liberal Democrat Woodrow Wilson's dubious administration, Da Boyz in Da Hoods were welcomed to the White House for Wilson to show them "Birth of a Nation."

In other words, liberals loved the Klan. The President of the United States said so.
