Why do Republicans make so many strawman arguments?

The guy loves the country, and he's been a victim of and observer of policies that have been disastrous to the US, US businesses and American workers. At his age, what more does he need? His kids are the ones making sacrifices. They all work for free and Trump writes a check to the Treasury for profits on foreign guests at his properties.

 

Blacks are highly successful. They don't need anybody to tell them how to do it. Two were Secretaries of State. One died last week. One is an ex-president.

Jim Crow is what happened to blacks, which didn't happen to the Irish and Italians.

 

I'm a bit envious.

 

Maybe 50 years ago. in recent decades whites are terrified of appearing racist. Who the hell would want to subject themselves to the scrutiny racists receive these days? Of course there are racists here and there, but nowhere near the level MSM would have you believe. The main groups targeting blacks are other blacks.

Anyone can be a victim. It doesn't come with race, national origin, or ethnicity. All it takes is push from people like Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton or billionairess Opra Winfrey who tells us the US has a caste system despite millions of people who dragged themselves out of poverty and succeeded.

 

Well it just feels like home and I have two daughters here and their mom is Dutch and while most people hate the mostly cloudy weather I find it kind of cozy.

The reason we're seeing it in the media now is precisely because of the killings of Brionna Taylor, Ahmed Arbury and George Floyd; all happening within weeks of each other. What did you expect to happen?

 

The reason we're seeing it in the media is all about November 3. The media has worked overtime to get rid of Trump and he's beaten down every attack. No doubt there were pallets of bricks waiting for an excuse to riot. They just didn't know where to send them. There are big bucks being paid by globalists and China huggers to terrorists in an effort to get rid of Trump.

You're again stating the obvious. And "the media" includes conservative media as well, so "the media" has also worked overtime to excuse Trump.

It's all irrelevant. If those three black people had not been killed, we wouldn't have had protests, riots nor anything for the media to report.

 

Typical Republican to Black; "My ancestors were hated and reviled but overcame it, what is the main difference between, my ( Italian, Ukrainian, etc) ancestor and you?"

Black; "They could always say they weren't"

Jim Crow was part of the US Government. Until just a few decades ago blacks were specifically forbidden from buying houses under the VA or going to college on the GI Bill.

 

This is the kind of BS the Republicans are now pushing since they have NO real achievements to run on.

 

3 people Across the entire nation... they want to burn down cities over 3 people, negatively affecting lives far out proportion and greatly deepening the divide between races. Thats a quiet night in many cities.

im sure there are more effective ways of addressing their grievances without ripping the country apart.

For just about every one of the Republican "strawman" arguments, I can show you actual Democrat politicians, big name politicians, that make just about exactly those arguments.

Those Democrat politicians are not straw, they are flesh and blood.

 

What's laughably ironic is that your post is in itself a straw man argument. As defined by Merriam-Webster, a straw man is "a weak or imaginary opposition (such as an argument or adversary) set up only to be easily confuted." Instead of pointing to actual examples of Republicans attacking a straw man, and then logically tying this to how Republicans, in the abstract, generally characterize Democrats, you, instead, cite a Facebook post that was in itself, too, a straw man argument about how Republicans argue, with no logical basis. In other words, you and the Facebook poster created ""a weak or imaginary opposition" just to attack it. And then, on top of that, you get a bunch of Democrats to like your straw man argument about Republicans attacking a straw man, which, again, ironically, says more about how Democrats--at least on this forum--are more apt to accept a straw man.

They can't rouse themselves to protect abortion through that method, so they surely won't do it for changing the EC. After Ruth Bader Ginsberg is finally replaced, the EC will not be touched but Roe v Wade will be gone.
