Good one. The Obama's are about 4000 % richer after office.

According to the left and some on this board, the list of impeachable offenses would include his hairstyle, color of the ties he chooses, the way the opposite sex consistently rejects them, and the consistency of their own bowel movements. I'm sure you have many of equal validity.

It continues to be a source of entertainment, like the daily comic strips.

Could you detail exactly what business the Obama's owned that they made money on while President Obama was in office?

Appeals Court Allows Emoluments Suit Against Trump to Proceed
The court rejected the president’s request to dismiss a case brought by the State of Maryland and the District of Columbia regarding his Washington hotel.
    • May 14, 2020
    • WASHINGTON — A federal appeals court in Virginia on Thursday revived a lawsuit accusing President Trump of violating the Constitution by profiting from his Washington hotel, a decision that will most likely lead the Justice Department to appeal to the Supreme Court to keep the plaintiffs from gathering evidence in the case.

“We recognize that the president is no ordinary petitioner, and we accord him great deference as the head of the executive branch,” the majority opinion from the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals said. “But Congress and the Supreme Court have severely limited our ability to grant the extraordinary relief the president seeks.”

It's weird, the hotel rates go up right around the time Nascar is about to race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

And some people get rich buy setting up a family charity and going to to foreign government and asking for donations. But it only works when you uave a family member in a high position.

I wouldn't say that raising the rates at the hotel is indicative of profiting. But we have many other cases to refer to regarding this very topic. Resurfacing n the news now is the issue of Trump telling the UK Ambassador to request the British Open to be held at Turnberry. There is also the issue of the number of times Trump has been to miralago with full complement of aids and SS, all being paid - to Trump - by the taxpayers. Oh, and that little trip by Pence to Ireland - staying at a Trump property 181 miles away from Dublin...the site of his meeting.

I agree it's probably not ethical, but it's not illegal. How could something like that even be regulated?

Right! And gassed up at that little station close to his resort, rather than at the government approved military station. Forgot about that one!

Actually it would be illegal if you could prove that there was intent. One big problem I have with trump is the golf carts the ss spent enough this year alone to pay for new gold carts and keep them there. They sure had no problems buying jet skiis when he went to the beach so why not just own golf carts to follow him on the course instead of renting them for triple the cost.

No. All I know is that they are worth forty times as much after office as previous to. Do you think they found it in their sock drawer?

I imagine they would then complain that he bought golf carts that are sitting there unused. There are no easy answers but there needs to be some kind of oversight for these things. We, tax payers, are drowning in debt.

A stretch and examples are petty. Nothing there. Many of examples of politicians going into office poor and somehow....on the salary of a politician which isn't that much of a salary...turning into millionaires. There is a lot of non petty "there there" across both republicans and Democrats and at least one Independent in congress.

In other words....there is a problem, but it ain't with Trump.

Trump is not as rich as he claims, or he would not need to scam for more money imo

No because he would not profit off of that. I didnt complain that they bought the jet skiis if that was what truly was needed to protect him.

Would the carts become property of the WH if they were purchased outright? Maybe I'm misunderstanding. I thought you meant the cost of buying them would be less expensive that the rental rates which were 3x as much as normal rental rates.

Yes they would be owned by the government just like the jet skiis I think went to some federal training place they said. Buying them would have saved a lot of money because they were being screwed.

That's more infuriating than Trump raising prices at his hotels to coincide with rally dates.
