download (9).jpeg download (7).jpeg download (10).jpeg Silver Springs and the silver river, I was born and raised 6 miles away. Tarzan (with Johnny Weisemuller) and one James Bond movie (or scenes) was filmed here.

    Beautiful homes. Many similarities.
1892? Well preserved for it's age. I posted a photo of one of the older homes on my road. They're all pretty similar--that old 18x28 single-story with attics converted to kids' bedrooms. Most are falling down or have been gone a few years. End of an era.

Oh, Wow! those are beautiful. I really like how the middle one catches the light of those leaning trees. Good job!

images (4).jpeg images (5).jpeg Statues at the spring bottom from the Bond film. Wild monkeys that still roam to this day along the river. They were released on an island for the Tarzan film, the belief was they could not swim, well it turns out they can. This river is where I caught that water moccasin as a boy. It's very much illegal to fish anywhere on the river but that never stopped me as a boy. I'd not try that now. I caught a bass of 10 pounds or more, everytime I fished there. Having never seen a lure, they bit anything. You could see them 20+ ft down

Probably 1910 or so. The house next to mine is 1906. Mine dates to the mid 60's. It was a freestanding 2 car garage before it was turned into our apartment. LOL
I cant take the credit, sadly I have not seen it with my own eyes since I was a boy. Used to swim there and drink straight from the river.

At least you saw enough in that photo to post it. Good eye! (can you tell I love that sort of stuff?) Peaceful, drop-dead gorgeous, serene, plain-everyday things that we so often fail to appreciate to any degree. Dang, I sound Buddhist!

Ok, I didn't know all that. I'm going to have to check it out.

That’s beautiful. You talking about light and shadows reminded me of the only selfie I’ve ever taken.

Silver Springs, Ocala Fl. It was a theme park with world famous, glass bottom boats. I dont know if it's still open as I heard the park was going insolvent. Wild Waters just next door has gone under. I was sad to see this pic, I rode this slide tons of times, ages ago. I0000SxX4C6eIVcc.jpg

Oh hell yes! That's really cool! And that's another aspect of this--a low slant of the light can seem to take us away from the heat of midday, at least in our eyes. Shade pools under trees can make us feel cooler on a hot day. Also, there is a story in that photo, whether its real or not. We have the solitary cow, the solitary rider on a horse, and a broad expanse of grass. It's serene, relaxing. I'm rambling!

Oh, and introspective--that's a word it brought to mind.

Probably been closed a long time. I bet it's been torn down, a liabillity waiting to happen. (Just as I suspected, demolished) I got curious and googled it. Found this fascinating link full of photos of the abandoned park. I love exploring abandoned places, wish I could have been there.

Ok, you’ve shown yourself to be knowledgeable on mushrooms. Can you identify these?

They appear to be cucumber stems with watermelon caps :) When mycologist get together in can be confusing to some, walking hunched over in the woods or pastures, muttering Latin phrases...

They are tasty. But they don’t facilitate a rendezvous with your spirit animal. :)

A lichen with an orange beady eye. I guess it fits the fungus theme since it’s part fungus.

    upload_2020-8-10_18-24-40.jpeg

I caught it staring at me from it’s perch on a plank fence in my corrals. It was a bit smaller than a pinky fingernail.

How many of you guys have your photo folders cluttered up with this kind of stuff?

    upload_2020-8-10_18-36-41.jpeg

@FatBack, you’re a welder. Could you build up that race housing? It’s cast. :)
