    Consider this New Testament Principle:

A Slave Master Was Asked By Paul To Look Upon His
Escaped Slave As A Brother In Christ --And Not As A
Slave --- And Especially Not As An Escaped Salve.
    _________

The story is in Philemon written by the Apostle Paul to
Philemon the Slave Master regarding Philemon's escaped
    slave named Onesimus.

"Accordingly, though I am bold enough in Christ to command
you to do what is required, yet for love’s sake I prefer to
appeal to you—I, Paul, an old man and now a prisoner also
for Christ Jesus—I appeal to you for my child, Onesimus,
whose father I became in my imprisonment.

(Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed
useful to you and to me.) I am sending him back to you,
sending my very heart. I would have been glad to keep
him with me, in order that he might serve me on your
behalf during my imprisonment for the gospel, but I
preferred to do nothing without your consent in order
that your goodness might not be by compulsion but
of your own accord. For this perhaps is why he was
parted from you for a while, that you might have him
back forever, no longer as a bondservant but more
than a bondservant, as a beloved brother —especially
to me, but how much more to you, both in the flesh
    and in the Lord"
    Philemon 1:8–16

    The Point?
The point is that the New Testament's great Apostle to
the Gentiles, the Apostle Paul, looked at a Christian
slave --- and a runaway slave too -- as a Christian
brother in Christ and urged that slave's Master to
also do that. The point is not "earthshaking" but it
    is at least worth noting.

The undeniable fact is that the Bible was written by man with no input from God (if He, She, or It exists). The laws were based on laws commonly found in the communities where the biblical books were written, and the "science" found was restricted to the limited knowledge at the time.

It makes sense that the Bible condones slavery as slavery was accepted at the time the biblical books were written (or course slavery of the Hebrews is not permitted).

This is why there is nothing in the Bible about dinosaurs, nothing about technology, and nothing about advanced science.

Some people get upset if you don't believe in their ethnocentric religious fairy tale.

It is obvious that you don't know what the real Ten Commandments are.

Which is exactly why you should drive home to them how stupid they are and how smart you are! People love that!

I love the way Christians dance around the slavery topic. The Bible condones slavery going back to before Sarah gave Abraham her slave Hagar to rape. Where in the Bible does it tell slave masters not to own slaves?

There are no earthly tyrants according to the Bible.

For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God. Romans 13:1

Being real with people is always the best policy.

People who are not hung up on slavery should probably experience the institution in the manner described by Abe Lincoln. The issue with respect to religious discussion is the fact that the Bible aligns so well with culture suggests that the Bible is the word of man and not the word of God. That, or God approves of slavery.

Not one person in history has ever had any real faith in the Jesus character because no one has ever been able to do what he said a person who has faith in him can easily do. Therefore, everyone is simply full of BS when they claim to believe in Jesus or else the Jesus character was simply a world-class narcissistic liar (if he existed) or else the writers simply made it all up.

What does that have to do with anything in this thread?

People are stupid for believing in the fairy tale because no one has enough faith to do what the Jesus character said a person with faith can do. Only stupid people can't see that.

So...nothing to to with the thread then, simply a personal rant.
