Doubly disappointing to do that to a child. I’m usually on a fan of hate crime laws, but I think I’ll just look the other way on this one.
On the surface I'd say 15 years seems mildly excessive but knowing they'd only serve a fraction of that I guess its appropriate to swing for the fences because these two definitely need to spend at least 5 actual years in prison and then be forever marked as dangerous felons. Plus I also worry about the defense making the case about political based prosecutorial overreaching and then getting sympathetic not-guilty verdict.

The US is creating an atmosphere where people think this type of behavior is not only acceptable but laudable. These women look proud of what they did. I don’t think their jail mates will take kindly to this. Prisoners may have twisted ethics but most don’t like it when children are harmed. A world of hurt is coming their way!

Pathetic and sad. Disagree with the jail sentence though. They will only get around other "low lifes" and learn new ways to cause havoc. I would rather see them fined, wearing ankle bracelets, on the side of the highway cleaning up (since they like to litter) and some hours at some kind of juvenile detention center so they can meet some kids who aren't afraid of their stupid antics.

Sending them to prison for a long sentence is pointless, clothing and feeding them at taxpayer expense. Maybe we should have hard labor prisons??
Sadly for that concept, it costs more to have hard labor prisons than the current warehousing model. That is why that "breaking rocks" faded away. Its expensive.
