    You keep saying to seek God with all your heart but you don't say exactly what to do. Do I read the bible every day? Do I show up to church? Do I pray? Actionable details would be useful.

    Since you claim that you have found God, you need to tell us the signs God has given to you personally that he is real. This is so we can know what to look for and we can see whether these signs really are reliable signs at all and not just you misinterpreting your own emotions.

    You'd be better going off going and doing something useful, like helping the poor and disadvantaged, rather than telling yourself fairy tales.

    As a former atheist who found God, I can say the first step in my case was a humble, respectful attitude followed by private prayer asking the simple question of "do you really exist?"

    Those who knock on that door do get an answer.

    Thanks you provided more actionable detail than the OP himself. I wonder whether the confirmation you got was really confirmation or just you interpreting events and feeling in a certain way.

    Well that's the thing. I cant convince you. All I can say is that I was convinced. God is very personal to that individual.

    You certainly aren't required to convince me or explain what convinced you. However the OP claims to know how to find God and should explain the signs that God is communicating with us. Thats all I'm saying.

    I'm just a fellow beggar, telling other beggars where to find bread.

    As far as knowing if and when God is 'communicating' with us, you will know. Nobody will have to tell you.

    Long my imprisoned spirit lay,
    Fast bound in sin and nature’s night;
    Thine eye diffused a quick’ning ray—
    I woke, the dungeon flamed with light;
    My chains fell off, my heart was free,
    I rose, went forth, and followed Thee.

    ..but if you're just wanting to give me some shots, that's ok, too. ;)

    If this is a godless universe.. a dog eat dog world, where the fittest survive, what is the point in 'helping the poor!!'? Deluded altruism?

    What about your fairy tales? A godless universe of no significance.. what is the point?

    Why are YOUR beliefs 'rational and sensible', but other's are 'fairy tales!!'?

    That's just religious bigotry..

    I was one at one time. Now I'm just a worn out agnostic but I do envy the devout. I think they are better people than I am, looking around for ways to help the poor, and they are more pleasant to be around. The OP for example is clearly offering good news, asking nothing in return, and he is being deprecated for it by sneering atheists.

    But part of the problem actually emanates from the patronizing style of some born again Christians. They found Jesus and push you to find Him too, whether you want to or not. Offering to "pray for you" comes off as condescending; "I'm sorry you aren't receptive to the truth," like it's as obvious as gravity. It is not, and it's a little unkind to talk that way to people who are suffering, an insinuation that "it's really your fault that you are suffering." It's annoying.

    Modern evangelism is as political as nationalistic Islam. It is nearly entirely divorced from the good works that religion is supposedly all about. The present-day Christian is far more likely to be at a Trump rally than in a Soup Kitchern and far more likely to give his money to a billionaire libertine than a starving old soldier who once defended his life

    Jesus would be profoundly ashamed of all of you. If you ever make it to heaven you will have much to answer for.

    I am sure we can agree that not every Christian is a purely political animal. To say otherwise is bigotry.

    ~ I agree. Some who have faith can be a bit haughty about it. Others are respectful .

    He's long since consigned me and all like me to the lowest levels of Gehenna. See you there.

    I'm going into the Gulf of Mexico. Remember that next time you eat oysters or shrimp from down there.
