It's not really aimed at you. It's for all those who are reading this thread. You knew all of it - even if you hadn't thought about it in the context of authority.
My current favorite is a 6.5 Grendel custom built Aero Precision lower receiver w/ a light contour SS 16" chromed out barrel, 15" Cerakoted Bronze camo fore end, Jewell .154" x 2 stage trigger, Magpul adjustable ACS carbine stock w/ storage ... forget what flash hider I have - not that it matters much other than it's ported up & diagonally sideways, lol... I'm 1/2 MOA w/ the above ~ shooting reloaded Hornady match 120gr hollow points out of Lapua brass w/ just shy of 29 grains of Varget w/ CCI # 400 sm. rifle primers.
You are correct & my mistake... I was thinking of my Berger's 6.5mm's which a friend just loaded... (missing from my shelf) tks... https://bergerbullets.com/product/6-5-mm-120-grain-bt-target/
Nice. At first I thought you said 6.5 Creedmore, and was thusly puzzled by the 16" barrel. The Aero pictured in the OP will shoot 0.50 MOA @ 300yds with 173gr LCM bullets - I suspect better bullets will improve that.
I have a similar set up, only with a 20" barrel, although I haven't had a chance to really shoot it much. I bought 400 of the Federal 123 gr BTHP American Gunner rounds and will figure out what to reload after I have the brass. Likely something in the 120-123 grain depending on COAL.
Obviously all of our reloading primers, powder, bullets & shooting hardware will have either been " " sold off or mysterious lost at the bottom a lake w/ that bad canoe flipping " " incident... right... Should Draconian Biden & Kamala start their Constitutional scourge upon our 2A...? I want to apologize to dedicated reloaders for saying 'Hornady' when I intended to say 'Berger'... I'm shooting 120 grain Target Bergers very well with what I'm told is 28.5 grains of Varget out of Lapua cases - CCI # 400 primers (6.5 Grendel AR 16") and these bullets are just sticking together like they are magnetized on my target at 100 yds... Very happy w/ them though I'm going to have to switch to a hunting expandable, SP or something & that might not be quite as accurate for 'punching paper'... I'll keep you posted https://bergerbullets.com/product/6-5-mm-120-grain-bt-target/
I have a 6.5-06 for long range. 140gr Berger VLD over 7828, from Winchester .25-06 brass and CCI Bench-rest primers 3000-3050 fps from a 28" Krieger bull barrel. 18lb rifle. Best string was 199-12x, with the 9 just outside the 10 ring; a pie plate would cover the other 19. Its hard to beat a heavy 6.5 for long range.
I have the 6.5 Grendel for the 600 yard stuff and a bolt 6.5 Creedmoor for the 1000 yard stuff. I get to shoot on the Burris range every once in a while, and it goes out to 1400 yds.
I think that this rifle of mine is in the 18 lbs. category, lol... 6mm Norma BR (built for 'chicken shoots') literally... I shoot chicken eggs at 200 yds. w/ this rig (& yes Varget is my go-to powder)... Yes, I sanded the wood & shaped all aspects of the stock - even milling out the space for the bolt to go back... (trued & glued bedding) It's a 'humble' Savage (left port / right bolt) Action but I'm proud of it & able to beat 1/2 of the guys at bench rest at 200 yds.with their custom riggs w/ this 'contraption of mine; lol... (3" flat stock btw)...
I fired an old Chinese surplus SKS the other day, it was fun. They were dirt cheap back in the 80s and 90s. Looked very similar to this one.
One of my sons has one - - Chinese Type 59, in storage since before Viernam, For a random compilation of mis-matched parts, firing7.62x39 Wolf, it shoots pretty well
I must have been bored the other night, I watched a video of uncrating a surplus crate and breaking one down to remove the original cosmoline with mineral spirits, lol. One thing to be aware of is the free floating firing pin can become gunked up and "slamfire" in full auto until empty with no way to stop it. Range was limited but I was hitting a beer can every shot off hand with open sights at maybe 80 ft. For such a cheap, mass produced gun, it's solid, accurate and powerful.
He soaked his overnight in a tube of mineral spirits. Clean as a whistle. We were hitting a torso-sized steel target 7-8/10 from 300yds.
Like VA Tech? Luby's in Texas? rifles (all kinds) are used in less murders than fists and clubs. So the gun banners want to talk about mass shootings in order to make it appear that rifles are so commonly used in crime.
That is because the anti gun movement is almost entirely a left wing movement and lots of lefties own dogs, cars and booze
I think all these items could actually be legally banned as they are not Constitutionally guaranteed. Lightening might be a bit tricky.
In other words, you are just here to stir the pot. Here are some things you may want to consider: In 1996 Australia banned semi automatic weapons after a mass shooting. They bought back 640,000 or an estimated one fifth of the firearms in Australia https://www.politifact.com/factchec...hecking-matt-gaetz-gun-bans-australia-and-ve/ If my math serves me right, that means that there were 3,200,000 weapons in Australia. Compare that to over 400,000,000 firearms in the United States. So far this year, there have been over 5 MILLION firearms sold in the U.S. https://www.mercurynews.com/2020/08/03/fbi-us-firearms-sales-boom-during-pandemic-lockdown/ https://www.thetrace.org/features/gun-sales-estimates/ So, I hate to be the bearer of bad news for you, but the United States is NOT Australia. In America the history of our nation is one where the people wanted to separate from Great Britain and they did so via a document that was predicated on the presupposition that we have a Right to Life. An extension of the Right to Life is the Right to keep and bear Arms. Keep in mind, the United States is the only country on this globe that expressly limits the power of the government. "The Right to keep and bear Arms is not a Right granted by the United States Constitution. Neither is it in any manner dependent upon that instrument for its existence." That is a direct quote from a United States Supreme Court decision (Cruickshank v U.S.) That Right is above the law in this country, despite the many attempts of the judicial branch to play semantics and legislate from the bench to contradict original intent. From all the data that has been compiled, there is no proof that outlawing firearms reduces the number of people who get killed by any significant number. You come here with the most preposterous position of anyone around. Your claim is that guns don't serve a useful purpose in today's world. That is false. Just a few weeks ago, I had to draw on a guy half my age that had gone into a rage. That gun was pretty damn useful for me. If I would have had to use it, the only thing you would have extrapolated by that action is that somebody was killed by a firearm. Had I not had that weapon, there would be no headline for you to demagogue and somebody might still be dead. But, I had a weapon, and it deterred an act of violence - AND the police determined that I acted in accordance with the law. Australia doesn't use over 80 percent of the world's opioid supply; we do. Australia doesn't have 11 million undocumented foreigners living inside its borders; we do. Australia is not a country known for its massive numbers of people traveling in and out; we are. Australians are not known for their history of having the citizenry repel tyranny in government; we are. Freedom and Liberty come at a price. Furthermore, those who would trade essential Liberty for the promise of temporary Safety deserve neither Liberty nor Safety - the primary reason being, once you give up your Liberty, you will never have Safety. I don't know what your primary objective is in starting to stir the pot. I can tell you that there is a wide berth of difference between gun control and passing laws that prevent gun violence. Control and prevention are different objectives. So, while I will not give up my gun, I'd be glad to help you learn how to prevent gun violence without gun control. I think you will ridicule and mock any such effort. Your goal is control.
